I am a small business LLC owner operator that specializes in metal fabrication. I have fabricated structure and process piping for some of the top chemical plant and oil refinery companies in the country and can work on most all alloys. I started out in the welding industry building ornamental gates and fences and moved onto steel structures such as stair cases, platforms, and large supports. I then and have been working as a specialty pipe welder the last 7 years of my career. I can also handle drafting any project design you have to make sure it is to your liking before it is built to your specified spec.

Metal Fabrication and Restoration questions, answered by experts

Common materials used include aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel, and copper, each selected for their properties suited to specific repair needs.

Since water heaters are primarily made of metal, they’re commonly accepted by scrap yards and collectors. Don’t expect to fetch a high price, though—water heaters are mostly steel and aluminum, which aren’t high-value metals. Some components are made of more valuable metals, like brass and copper, but they’re a small portion of the heater and won’t affect the price much.

Professionals ensure durability by selecting high-quality materials, precise fabrication, and proper finishing techniques. They perform meticulous installation and provide maintenance advice to extend the lifespan of metal installations.

The average roof requires about 17 metal sheets, but that varies according to house size and roof style. Each roofing sheet takes about five minutes to measure and cut, though this depends on your level of experience. If your roof has a steep slope, gables, and skylights, for example, it may require extra sheets to account for waste. Roofs with a steep slope over 3:12 typically require more sheets because the pitch adds extra inches. How much exactly you will need depends on the height versus the width of the roof. If you are unsure of the calculations, check with a local roofing professional.

Most projects take 1-4 weeks, depending on material sourcing, design intricacy, and required finishing treatments like powder coating or galvanization.
