"Joe from JMS Drain Services was my service technician who arrived well within the window scheduled service time. Joe came in, inspected the sink to determine how to resolve my issue, took out the tool (snake apparatus) to clear the sink, and departed my premises within 15 minutes. I was pleased he resolved my clogged sink so quickly so I could rest after a night's work. Thank you again, Joe."

Im 44 years old. Happily married with 3 kids and 5 grandchildren. I graduated high school in 1995, and an associate's degree in drafting and design in 1998. I worked in the oil industry as a mechanical designer until my unfortunate layoff in 2016. After about a year working from home i realized i couldn't go back in the office for 5 days a week. Since i was 12 yrs old i worked with my uncles repairing and building houses and other structures. So I decided to take advantage of it along with the uncanny ability to fix things and start providing handyman services. And here we are.

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

"Bruce came the day I called him to give me a quote. He was the 4th handyman I had called for a quote on cutting brick to install a new oven. His quote was very reasonable and he said he could do it. One quote I got was 4 times his quote and 2 men said they could do it but it would be "difficult" and wouldn't give me a set price. One man said he would do it for cheaper and after repeated calls to get him to come - he would not return my calls.

Pros: Bruce is friendly and does good work. He cleans up after himself. He is reasonable. He has a broad knowledge. He returns his phone calls and shows up on the day he says he will come. He did everything I asked of him.

Cons: He comes later than the stated time. This is OK by me since I'm home but might be a problem if you work and have to take time off to meet him. I feel certain if you state this - he will give you a more accurate time. He brought his girlfriend and she is a delight and very pleasant and I enjoyed visiting with her; but many people might not feel this is professional.

I would highly recommend Bruce.

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

There are several types of sink drain stoppers, including pull-out, twist-and-pull, and pop-up. Pull-out sink stoppers can be removed by pulling on the stopper until it comes out of the drain. A twist-and-pull design requires lifting then turning the stopper to lock it in an open position and the opposite action (turning, then pressing down) to close it. A pop-up sink stopper works by pushing down the drain cover to open or close the passageway.

There’s no definitive answer regarding whether equipping your kitchen island with a stove or sink is better. The right option depends on each homeowner's lifestyle, cooking style, and kitchen layout. If you cook with guests over, having a stove that faces outward can facilitate socialization while you prepare dinner. On the other hand, if you use a lot of produce, having your sink by your prep area makes it easier to clean veggies while cooking. A sink also makes cleanup easier by allowing you to wipe down your prep area and place your dirty dishes in the sink.

Try to tighten the clevis crew and adjust the lift rod if your sink stopper won’t stay up. Sometimes your screws became too loose over time, and as a result, there wasn’t enough resistance to keep the sink stopper up. If a damaged lift rod is the cause of the problem, you will need to replace it with a new rod.

The cost varies from $200 to $1,500, depending on whether it’s a basic replacement, repair, or a full sink and plumbing upgrade.

Yes, it’s necessary to have a sink drain stopper. While your sink will still work without a stopper, a stopper is necessary to keep things other than water from going down into your pipes and potentially clogging them. It prevents plumbing problems by keeping out unwanted debris and objects like hair, soap, toothpaste, dirt, and jewelry.
