About American Wastewater Systems After more than 30 years of development, American Wastewater Systems, Inc., formerly Ace Plumbing and Sewer, Inc., has become a true leader in the wastewater treatment industry. We began operations early in 1981, by installing home sewer systems and working as master plumbers, all from the confines of our home-office-warehouse location. In 1992 we curtailed our plumbing business and concentrated more on the wastewater treatment industry. We bought a 5000 sq. ft. metal building on a 250’ X 260’ lot and proceeded to manufacture and continue to install home wastewater treatment plants. Four years later, in 1996, we expanded our operations and began to manufacture and install commercial treatment plants and lift stations. Within one year’s time we had become the largest distributor of commercial plants in the state of Louisiana, for Jet, Inc., a manufacturer of engineered wastewater treatment plants. American Wastewater Systems, Inc. established its corporate office location in June 1999. We purchased a new 16.5-acre location; featuring a two-story office complex with extensive warehouse space, an all-weather casting facility, and over 5 acres of cargo storage area for castings. By this time, we had become the largest Jet, Inc. commercial wastewater treatment plant distributor, not only in Louisiana, but also in the United States. We have designed our own “Class 1” residential wastewater treatment system called B.E.S.T. 1. With the successful testing and approval by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), we began manufacturing and marketing these units in May of 2000. Patent rights were secured on July 24, 2001 under Patent No. US D 445,477 S. Our B.E.S.T. 1 was the first ANSI/NSF Standard 40 system introduced to the Louisiana market and fully complies with the newly required regulations being enforced as of March 1, 2001.

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Since they are cold-blooded, snakes find cool toilet bowls attractive, especially during hot weather. Or they may be seeking to escape the plumbing and find a spot in your home where they can warm up on a cold night. Snakes may also be looking for food.

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.

If you’ve accessed the bolts and nuts that hold your toilet seat in place and can’t unscrew them, it’s possible that they were overtightened or that the material corroded over time, making it impossible to unscrew. If that’s the case, you can either call in a plumber for help, or you can DIY a solution if you’re careful. Lay down masking tape around the mounting bracket and then use the tape as a surface to lay a hack saw blade. Move slowly to cut through the bracket and bolt, being careful not to damage the porcelain in the process.

Running hot water through frozen pipes can help thaw them, but it's not always a guaranteed solution. To prevent pipes from freezing in the first place, it’s crucial to open the hot and cold faucets connected to the frozen pipes and allow a slow, steady stream of water to flow. Additionally, applying gentle heat using a hairdryer or heat tape can expedite the thawing process. If the pipes remain frozen, professional assistance may be necessary to prevent damage.

It’s sometimes difficult to distinguish a clog from a frozen drainpipe since ice technically causes a clog. If the temperature doesn’t tip you off, there are a few additional signs that your pipe is frozen. Look for condensation and frost around the pipes. Ice in pipes can cause a banging or clanking noise as opposed to a clog from a softer material.
