"I just had Stone Age Masonry install a brick and flagstone porch, and I’m super happy with how it turned out! Eddie and his team really know their stuff. It did take a little longer than I expected, but honestly, I appreciate Eddie’s perfectionist side. He really takes his time to make sure everything is perfect, and it definitely shows in the final result. My porch looks amazing and has completely changed the look of my entrance! Eddie kept me in the loop throughout the whole process, which I really appreciated. If you’re looking for quality masonry work, I can’t recommend Stone Age Masonry enough. Thanks, Eddie, for the awesome job!"

"Erie Home Basement Solutions was a pleasure to work with. Everyone was on time, and always polite and courteous throughout this process. This is extremely hard work and they continued to always have a smile on their face and answer any questions I had. They worked diligently to complete the project on time and fulfilled all aspects of the contract. Actually, they went above and beyond to make sure I was pleased with their service, which is unusual in todayâ s work culture. I would highly recommend this company for your basement waterproofing needs."

"The owner came down to give us an estimate on what it would take to fix standing water issue in a house we were looking at purchasing. He performed a thorough inspection on what was causing the water to sit in the crawlspace and went over what would be required to keep the moisture and water from affecting the structural integrity of the house. While we did not end up purchasing the home, we greatly appreciated his willingness to come down and do an inspection and give us an estimate. They were recommended by my stepdad who had them do a crawlspace encapsulation on his house. He said they perform first class workmanship and were professional. The owner also came back after the work was finished to ensure that everything was done correctly. Would recommend to anyone needing any work done on their crawlspace."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Look for musty odors, white salt deposits on basement walls, or staining around your fireplace. These signs indicate that failing structures already impact your interior systems. In Kentucky, chimney masonry work directly affects HVAC and gas appliance venting. Repairing a foundation disrupts interior waterproofing systems like sump pumps. Additionally, fixing crawl space piers requires temporarily relocating plumbing and electrical lines. Always coordinate with local professionals across these trades.

Helpful?

In KY, chimneys are the top area requiring masonry work due to harsh winters and high humidity. You will also see deterioration on brick veneer exterior walls, especially in shaded areas where moisture stays trapped. Furthermore, expanding clay soils put heavy pressure on foundation walls, retaining walls, and crawl space piers. Inspect porch columns and steps regularly, as ground contact makes them highly vulnerable to damage.

Helpful?

When starting masonry work in Winchester, contractors uncover underlying water damage that requires carpentry repairs before proceeding. If you own an older home, sourcing period-appropriate soft mortar or matching historic brick requires extra time and materials. You must also account for necessary foundation footing repairs, chimney liner replacements, and mandatory asbestos or lead paint abatement. Finally, correcting improper yard grading is essential to protect your newly repaired structures.

Helpful?

For masonry work in Winchester, you will encounter several types of local professionals. General contractors manage large projects involving structural, plumbing, or electrical systems. Specialty masonry contractors focus exclusively on brick, block, and stone tasks. You will also find chimney specialists who handle inspections and relining, along with foundation repair experts who understand local soil conditions. Finally, historic preservation masons specifically restore older homes using traditional techniques.

Helpful?

As a new homeowner in Winchester, prioritize inspecting and repointing your chimney. The frequent freeze-thaw cycles quickly damage mortar joints. Next, check your foundation and basement walls for cracking or white salt deposits caused by expanding clay soils. Finally, assess retaining walls and porch masonry for shifting or settling. Addressing these masonry work projects early keeps your home structurally sound and safe from water damage.
