"I had originally planned on installing a mitigation system myself, having already priced out all of the parts, etc. necessary. I called Trenton to get a ballpark estimate and found him very reasonably priced, based on what the materials cost. I had him come and do a baseline test and the result was that my Radon level was under the EPA recommended limits. Trenton made me aware of this and said based on this, I did not need mitigation to reach EPA limits, but if I did decide to do it, it would definitely reduce what I did have. He said it was up to me, that he could not make a recommendation either way. WHAT A REFRESHING AND PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE. NO PRESSURE.... My opinion is that the only good Radon is no Radon and elected to get the mitigation. We scheduled the mitigation system install right then. Day of install Trenton was prompt, made next to no dust even though he cut through my basement floor and wall, and finished early. He then set up follow up test and I tested at 1.2. AWESOME. He reviewed the system with me, what to expect going forward and asked for any questions. PROFESSIONAL ALL THE WAY."

"I would definitely recommend this company to someone that needed radon mitigation. Setting up my appointment was very easy and they took the time to explain everything that would happen. Lance was really nice and easy to work with. The whole appointment took longer than I had hoped so try to be free for the whole day instead of a half day. I am very happy with this company."

"It went great! I have a home where the system was not easy to install, but they stayed until it was finished. A test kit was left to see if it was working properly, but they added that they would return if our radon wasn't lowered. IT WAS!! Money very well spent"

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

A homeowner can install a radon mitigation system on their own. But it’s a challenging DIY that requires a lot of knowledge about radon mitigation as well as familiarity with local regulations. You do not want to risk an improper installation that leaves the system unable to detect radon or gives it a shortened life span. Relying on a professional is the surest way to guarantee a successful installation.

The average radon mitigation system uses about 876 kWh of electricity per year, although the exact amount of electricity used will vary depending on the size of the radon fan. Once the system is installed, the annual increase to your energy bill could range from $30 to $300 per year, again depending on the size of the fan.

While DIY testing is possible, abatement generally requires professional installation to ensure efficacy and meet safety standards.

If high radon levels are detected, steps include sealing entry points, installing a mitigation system, and retesting the air regularly to ensure reduced levels.

Your radon mitigation system may be loud because it’s time to replace it. Any sounds are usually from the inline fan that helps create the vacuum and resulting airflow. If you hear a new, loud mechanical or humming noise from your radon fan, it might be time to replace it. Most fans used in radon mitigation systems last up to 10 years, but may need to be replaced sooner.
