"You should probably add 4-6 weeks to the expected delivery date if you expect to need the "enclosed" hardware. I received the blinds in the estimated time, but it came without the required hardware. I have made 4 calls (at least) over several weeks, but the hardware is nowhere in site. It is clear that SelectBlinds.com is a marketing company only has outsourced all production and fulfillment to third parties and evidently has a difficult time coordinating these type of customer service issue. Extremely frustrating that my blinds have been sitting in the floor for over a month and all I need is a few screws. Happy to go to Home Depot to get the screws, but SelectBlinds can't even tell me what sizes I need."

"I purchase a Front Entry door for $9600 5 years ago. It is a really nice-looking, full-fiberglass door with sidelights and a transom. this past winter, the lower corner of the door froze to the jamb and when we opened the door it ripped the corner of the door. This is an expensive door with a limited-lifteime warranty and the salesman touted that it would last 50 years or more. The door and sidelights slabs are warranted for life. The finish is warranted for 10 years. which is also fading in spots. Initially, Their customer service did not want to do anything about it so I filled a complaint with the BBB on a Friday. Wouldn't you know it, they called on Monday and said they would meet this Thursday about getting a solution figured out. Well it took about 4 weeks, but they finally got a "solution." They wanted to charge $1700 for a new slab or $200 to glue the corner back on and touch it up. I told them I would fix it myself and wash my hand with the matter and their company. Now because they responded to the BBB Complaint and took so long to get the "solution" the BBB closed my case satisfactorily. BUt don't be fooled. These guys are crooks. They are overpriced and provide lack-luster customer service. Do your future self a favor and find someone else to hire."

A good U-factor for windows is 0.30 or lower, but they can range from 0.20 to 1.20. A general rule of thumb when it comes to the U-factor is that the lower, the better.

The key difference between a hung window and an awning window is that hung windows (including single-hung and double-hung versions) slide vertically to open and close. Smart windows can last anywhere from 10 to 50 years. It depends on the type and brand of smart window you choose and how much usage your windows get.

There are several ways to keep your existing windows from letting in noise. You can install sound-dampening curtains or other window treatments that help deaden noise vibrations. Make sure any gaps around the window are sealed with acoustic caulk. Installing acrylic or plexiglass on the inside of windows still allows you to take in the outdoor views while also stifling sounds from coming in and out. 

If you try all of these steps and still have noise coming in, it might be time to install new windows.

You will need about half of a caulking cartridge to caulk one window. The average home has eight to 10 windows, so you would need about 4 or 5 cartridges to caulk every window in an average-sized house. However, you may not need to caulk all the windows at once. If just one window has a pesky draft, you may only need half of a cartridge to fill in the gaps.
