"I was pleased with the results and felt very confident in their ability to complete the job well and as expected. They were professional and went the extra mile when the job ran a bit longer than scheduled. I would hire them again if ever needed."

"We recently had tile installed in our store, and the results are absolutely amazing. They took the time to prepare the space properly and made sure every tile was perfectly aligned and securely placed. The craftsmanship really stands out?the floors look clean, modern, and have completely elevated the appearance of our store. If you?re looking for high-quality tile installation with great attention to detail and excellent customer service, I highly recommend them."

"I hired Tristate Complete Home Repair and Maintenance to fix a bad tile job in our new shower. They came out and worked diligently to fix the sharp tile replacement and drain issue. Jeff was professional, helpful, and answered our questions. I appreciate this company and will use them in the future for other home repairs and maintenance issues."

"Todd did come out yesterday, 10/8, and took care of the items I was concerned about.  Two of them were not his fault, they were material issues, not labor, but he took care of those as well and offered good advice.  I do think that Todd is a qualified tile contractor and I think, overall, he did a decent job.  My advice to him would be to slow down and spend more time with each customer and get to know that customer a little better so he knows their expectations on the job.  Some customer's, like myself, are more picky than other's and like things done as requested and left as clean as possible at the end of each day.  Other's may not be as particular.  A successful contractor is the one that can figure out and listen to each customer and complete the job to their satisfaction."

"Unfortunately, the sales rep did not measure correctly. The installer caught the mistake and it became a two day job. But they gave a discount when I asked for one and the installer did a good job. I am waiting to see if any carpet bubbles up after 6 months."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.

Tile shouldn’t be set tight against the tub. Bathtubs can expand when filled, and they can shift slightly with the weight of occupants. For this reason, it’s important to leave a slight gap between the bathtub and the first row of tile. Aim for a narrow gap of approximately 1/16 of an inch, filled with caulk, to allow for this expansion and movement while still allowing for tile shower waterproofing.

Grouting hearth tiles is one of the most important steps. It seals the tiles so heat doesn’t transfer under the tiles so easily, which can be dangerous. For this reason, heat-resistant grout is a must. Grout also prevents dust, dirt, and any other material from gathering between your tiles. If this happens and those buildups are flammable, a fire could start between the tiles.

Popular options include ceramic, porcelain, stone, and glass tiles, chosen based on the area (bathroom, kitchen) and desired aesthetic.
