"They promptly returned my call. They had a fair price, anddid an excellent job with the trees. They cleaned the area, grinded the stumps and hauled away the trees and debris. The were respectful of our property and got all this done in 2 days. They did everything I asked and they were very thorough. I’d definitely hire them again if I ever need more any tree work."

"The tree was cut the next day as promised. My yard is wet most of the year so the timing was perfect to cut the tree before the leaves were fully out. Very happy with their service!"

"Islas Tree Service / Home Improvements helped me with a tree and stump removal and with a house remodel (bathroom, flooring, windows). Genaro and team were professional, produced high quality work, good with timelines, easy to work with, and kept the areas clean. They were also reasonably priced. I'd recommend them for exterior and interior projects!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

A tree branch should start to form roots in about three months. It can take about a year for a tree branch to develop roots strong enough to go in the ground. For best results, start several branches because, no matter how closely you follow instructions, they won’t all form roots. Compost any that aren’t thriving.

Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.

It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting.

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.

It can take anywhere from one month to a couple of years for tree roots to grow back in sewer lines. Tree roots can cause extreme havoc on your sewer lines, potentially cracking them and causing untreated wastewater to make its way into the groundwater. Have a landscaping pro remove trees and roots before installing your system, or call a pro to do it retroactively as soon as you can.

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.
