"Our radon motor pump was not working. They came out and inspected and took model number to order. Had motor in few days and replaced in less than 30 min. Coming out today to leave sensor to measure radon in basement to verify working. All part of quote. Happy with quick response and repair."

"Ron from Radon Solutions of Southern Indiana arrived right when he said he would and cared enough to take the time and explain what he found from the test and all the solutions that we could use. From the initial appointment to when he left from putting in the mitigation system he was very personable and had great customer service. With his reasonable prices, customer service, and great final product I definitely recommend using his service to anyone else, in fact my own mother in law is getting a system installed by him in her new house she just moved into."

"I would definitely recommend this company to someone that needed radon mitigation. Setting up my appointment was very easy and they took the time to explain everything that would happen. Lance was really nice and easy to work with. The whole appointment took longer than I had hoped so try to be free for the whole day instead of a half day. I am very happy with this company."

"Took a piece of tile to Jeff to test in a lab and provided complete lab report on findings.  It only took a couple of days for the whole thing to take place.  I was very comfortable and pleased that we knew what it was so we can move forward with cleaning the asbestos.  Jeff advised on the options available.  When I asked for clarification he got with me right away to help explain things for me. He was very informative."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Radon is present almost everywhere but, like sunlight, the concentration levels and how often you are exposed to it have a large part to play in just how dangerous it is. There are levels of radon that are acceptable inside a house, but above a certain limit, radon becomes a serious radioactive hazard that is a known cause of lung cancer. In fact, radon exposure is the number two leading cause of lung cancer (after smoking).

Your radon fan needs to operate 24/7 to be effective. The only time the fan isn't operating is during its replacement. Radon levels in the home can increase within hours if the fan stops working or something obstructs the stack vent. Fortunately, radon systems require no downtime maintenance between fan changes.

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is present everywhere, complete avoidance is impossible. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking preventative measures if your home's radon levels are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.

The cost for a radon mitigation system typically ranges from $800 to $1,500, with an average around $1,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the severity of the radon issue, and the type of system required. Your home's foundation type also significantly impacts the cost. For example, sealing and ventilating an unfinished basement might cost around $4,600, while encapsulating a crawl space without a foundation slab can range from $1,500 to $15,000.

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.
