"Great people to work with, they're still new, but got the job done. I had the underside of a shed spray foamed and it was a little sloppy, but they had to work in close quarters. I have no complaints and have felt the difference already."

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

"Our home has a garage that was converted into a den. The air flow to this room has always been weak. In fact we had too much flow at one end of the home and weak flow at the other.  In the winter, we always had a musty smell coming through the vents.  Mr. Wooley and his brother fixed all of it!  For 6 years we lived in this home and suffered sneezing and coughing.  No mas!  We are breathing easier with our new ductwork, and the flow of air is consistent throught the entire house as is the temperature.  Even our downstairs den is much more comfortable now than it's ever been.  Maybe we'll actually use that room in the winter time now!  I was thoroughly pleased with the work and the price.  The Wooley Brothers are good people.  I would use them again in a heartbeat.  The service tech came by after the work was complete to tune up the unit.  He found the reason why the unit had always been sweaty and fixed that too!  I had 2 different companies out to the house before trying to fix that issue, but no one had been able to do so before.  Mr. Wooley even came back and replaced the wet insulation.  He said he wanted to make sure the job was done right.  I am very impressed!

Insulation questions, answered by experts

It is usually possible to install insulation yourself, but it’s often better to hire an insulation professional. An experienced insulation pro can determine which type of insulation is best for your space and the R-value get the most value and comfort in your home. Certain types of insulation can cause skin, eye, and lung irritation, and a professional will have the equipment necessary to keep themselves safe and limit the effect on your indoor air quality after the installation. Certain types of insulation—like blown-in and loose-fill insulation—demand a professional for proper functionality and safe installation.

High humidity, bad insulation, warmth from sunlight, and poor circulation are all reasons your home’s hotter inside than out. While this is what you want in the colder months, summer can become unbearable if this is a constant. Try to find the cause, but you need to remember that issues like this require a permanent fix (unless you want to bear down during the summer months).

Rockwool insulation can last up to 100 years, but just how long this insulation lasts in your home depends on how well it's maintained. Poorly installed insulation may last only 30 years, so be sure to regularly inspect your home's insulation for water damage, settling, and pests to give your insulation the best chance of having a long lifespan.

Asphalt roofs provide better insulation than metal roofs, but that doesn’t always mean that asphalt roofs are better for reducing heating and cooling bills. In hotter climates, metal roofs will usually be better for home efficiency because the material reflects more sunlight and reduces solar heat gain. In colder climates, asphalt roofs are sometimes superior in terms of efficiency because they introduce more solar heat gain to your home and have greater insulating capabilities. However, metal roofs installed with an air gap can provide similar levels of insulation.

The amount and type of insulation your home needs depends on your location, climate, and the specific installation area (attic, walls, or floors). Your local building code will typically determine the minimum required R-value. For specific recommendations, Energy Star suggests the following R-values: homes in the Southern U.S. should have R30 to R60 in attics and R13 to R25 in floors and walls; homes in moderate climates need R38 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls; and homes in northern states require R49 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls.
