Description of Work
We had an ice dam form during the winter that caused water to back up into house. J&S Construction was hired to correct the problem with a compound cricket in the roof which led to the water back up and major damage inside. They changed the slope of part of the roof leading up to the compound cricket, installed a new roof over the problem area, and installed new shingles. The job took much longer than estimated, but the temperature outside was near 100 and I can only imagine what it was on the roof in the sun. The cleaned up the area after the work and we anticipate no further problems with the roof.

They contracted a local company to conduct the different repairs. Understanding that they where busy and it took them over a month to start the repairs. On the first Dayana second day they where late. Up to 2 1/2 hours late with no phone calls. Wall repairs and insulation, I had to remind the workers to install the insulation sin the wall and cealing. Placed the wrong kind of insulation in the wall and charged for a different one. Dry wall repairs where very slow and waited for 5 hours one day and another day did not show up. No phone call. On the bill charged for serviced not provided. I had to confront the item to get them done. J&S just wanted the check and subcontracted all to work. After everything was fix to specifications and I paid the bill I did not get a receipt. I had to call the company and request a receipt and written information about the work with warranty. Even thou J&S did not conduct the repairs they where overall in charge. No inspection was conducted by J&S. I hope everything holds up. It looks nice.

The work was well done and I am very happy with it. Communication was terrible. Getting a written estimate for what we wanted felt like pulling teeth. It was difficult to find out when the work was scheduled to be performed - our project manager didn't seem to think it was important to inform us what was scheduled when, causing me to make repeated phone calls to see what was happening.

We visited them on March 21st and they went over all of the plans and what the alternatives would be, should we choose to upgrade certain aspects of the construction. They were very pleasant and patient as we went through the plans.They then took us to various show rooms and businesses for us to pick and choose various items (Cabinets, flooring, etc.)And gave very constructive input as to reasons why or why not to go with certain items. (Types of wood flooring; wood decking vs. composite wood, etc.)They have given us a proposal of the cost in building the home and we will be going with them for the construction.I will post my comments as we go through the construction aspect.We are very pleased with Jand S and the professionalism, courteousness, and friendliness they have shown us so far.

We signed an agreement for J&S Construction to design our retirement home for us in Tennessee on 10/19/2011.They introduced us to one of the owners, and they made us feel very comfortable and at ease in the process of going over what they will provide for us and were very patient with us as we explained room-by-room what we were looking to do. We live in Saint Charles, IL. and they sent us copies of the floor plan and set up conference calls with us to discuss various aspects of the plans. It only took 3 iterations before we settled on the final plans.We then went to the outside plans and that only took 2 iterations before we had the final plans. They even included a site photo of our property with the house superimposed on the site so we can see how it would look.

They were an A+ company. They were great listeners and asked if I wanted additional errors to be fixed. They were very respectable about my property and always asked before they performed the work. They were great communicators and called regularly. I would highly recommend this company.
