"My old Aspen condenser coil unit was noticeably leaking R-410a after getting a third refrigerant charge in about a year, from a Contractor who would not acknowledge the leak. After a couple months of sweltering heat and humidity, ventilating bad air, and searching northeast Kentucky for someone to replace the Aspen condenser coils and old outside heat pump, my search was over when Buddy Hutchison gave me the good news I needed. He responded promptly with a very reasonable estimate and confirmation that he could in fact replace the A/C system components. Buddy and his crew arrived on time and in a few hours, installed a new Aspen condenser coil unit (R-32, with TXV and leak detection) and a R-32 compatible Goodman 3-ton A/C heat pump. It's good to know there is a local HVAC contractor around that is focused on your needs, with the knowledge, professionalism, courtesy, and integrity, that a customer would expect. Highly Recommended."

"Mr. Ferrell first connected his computer to my computer via internet and worked for quite a few hours trying to determine what exactly was wrong. The next day he continued working from his computer for several hours. He determined he would have to have my desktop tower to complete the repair. He and my son met in Huntsville to exchange the tower. He then cleaned up a lot of what was wrong and reloaded Windows 10. He deleted the D: drive which had way too much memory allotted to it. The tower was returned and I plugged it all back together and it is working better than it did when I first purchased it. I would use him again and I recommend him highly to anyone needing computer updating and/or repair. His work is warrantied and he is very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, mini-split systems are generally less expensive to run than central air conditioners and are significantly more energy-efficient. Because mini-splits do not rely on ductwork, they avoid the energy loss associated with ducted systems, allowing cooled or heated air to reach its destination more efficiently. Additionally, they offer zoned control, meaning you can run units in individual rooms and turn them off in unoccupied areas. This capability can lead to energy savings of about 30% compared to a central air system, resulting in a lower monthly energy bill.

There are several steps you can take to prevent your AC drain from clogging. This includes cleaning the drain line at least every three months, changing the filter every one to three months, and getting your AC serviced annually. Also, if any problems arise with your AC, hire an HVAC technician to deal with them ASAP.

High humidity, bad insulation, warmth from sunlight, and poor circulation are all reasons your home’s hotter inside than out. While this is what you want in the colder months, summer can become unbearable if this is a constant. Try to find the cause, but you need to remember that issues like this require a permanent fix (unless you want to bear down during the summer months).

A dirty AC filter can lower the efficiency of your system, so depending on how dirty it was, you may notice a temperature difference when you clean your filter. You can try other solutions if your AC isn’t blowing as cold as it used to. You can call in a local HVAC tech to make sure everything is running correctly, fix your air seal if it’s a window unit, and clean your coils.

The decision to put your AC unit on the roof or ground depends on the climate in your area, the roof shape, accessibility, and budget. If you live in a warm climate or don’t have existing ductwork, it’s likely best to stick to a traditional AC unit that sits on the ground. However, if you lack yard space, live in a mild climate, and have easy access to the roof, your home may benefit from a rooftop AC unit.
