"I wanted about 100 feet of fencing put around the back of my house to serve as a dog run. I had contacted several local fencing companies but they either did not return my calls or were booked for a couple to many months. I lucked out that these guys were in-between jobs. Kyle came out quickly and gave me an estimate that was less than I was expecting and more than fair. He walked me through the pros and cons of different kinds of fencing and I settled on split-rail. I didn't want an expensive fence, but I wanted something a little nicer-looking than chain-link. He even gave me a small discount if I started the work sooner rather than later. They got started less than a week later on a Tuesday, and were only delayed by a few days when several rounds of thunder storms came through. Even with the rain they had the posts up and in concrete by Friday so they could set over the weekend. The fence was up by lunch on Monday. They returned Tuesday morning (due to a materials delay that was beyond their control) and finished the entire job by lunch on Tuesday. Kyle, his partner, and the 2 men that helped them on this job are good, local guys from southern Indiana. They were honest, tidy, pleasant, polite, and honestly, fun to talk to the few times I went out to shoot the breeze with them. I hope they make it in this business for their sake and the fact that I would hire them again if the need ever came up."

Jose's Painting & Handyman Services is a painting contractor / painter serving the Cincinnati, OH area. Services include Painting, Handyman, House Painting, Commercial Painting, Cabinet Refinishing, Drywall Repair, Interior Painting, Exterior Painting, Ceiling Painting, Deck Staining, Textured Painting, Floor Refinishing, Gutter Cleaning, Pressure Washing, Garage Floor Painting, Wallpaper Removal, Bathroom Remodeling, Kitchen Remodeling and House Cleaning.

"Nightmare in Easton. Jose’s painted over debris from power washing on my home and decks and never sanded or prepped. They painted my roof shingles and my security cameras! They spray painted my new gutters that were just installed when I told them not to. They painted my chimney and it’s an absolute mess. They painted with tan primer on a house to be painted white! Tan is showing through. They did not repair work prior to painting as quoted. They ripped screens out from the outside of the house breaking them. Painted all windows shut. Power washed my new deck boards on both decks against the grain causing so much damage. They added sand to deck boards and it is a nightmare. Paint is all over my patios. Paint is peeling everywhere after 1 day! Now he wants to come to “touch up” areas after I had professional contractors view his work. I was told the entire house and both decks need to be completely re-done. Contacted his insurance carrier. Shame on you, Jose. Reported to the Attorney General’s office."

I started in this industry in 2008 as a carpenter's apprentice. In 2013 I moved on to running my own business, doing everything from tile and paint, to decks and kitchen remodels, and now taking on larger jobs such as finishing basements to home additions. I pride myself on communicating with my customers through all phases of their projects, keeping them up to date on progress and giving them my input when needed, and providing quality work at reasonable prices.

"Tim is great. I was connected to him through my mom who touted reasonable pricing and a great job, after he was recommended to her by a friend he'd done work for for the same reasons. I began working with Tim probably around 2019-2020, and have hired Mielke Construction time and time again due to his quality of work, professionalism, reasonable pricing, reliability, friendliness and ability to do so many different things. I bought a house about 5 years ago that we basically did an entire remodel on. I've worked with many contractors since purchasing it, and Tim is hands down the best I've come across. He gives me very reasonable pricing on so many projects, and does a very good job on top of that. In particular, Tim did a bathroom tile job (in addition the installing the vanity and mirror and sinks and more) for me that is truly beautiful and I couldn't be happier. If I could upload a picture to show it off I would. I could go on but don't want to ramble too much! I've worked with him for years now and could even call him a friend at this point. Tim is the man and I definitely recommend him."

We are a company that specializes in residential and commercial painting, drywall, and carpentry. We also specialize in Water damage, fire damage, property cleanup, smoke and odor damage, wind damage, and mold. We also serve reconstruction to property. We are licensed in painting, water damage, drying, bacteria remediation (mold growth) and Lead renovation.

"They were the only company able to come out right away, which was late at night, and which we really appreciated. So an A for responsiveness. For the actual work, I would only rate them as a C. Project manager (and owner I believe) did not provide me with a lot of confidence that they knew what they were doing, but my insurance co. confirmed that their step by step process was correct, which made me feel better. The team removed saturated items but it was not done with a lot of care, and no protective covering was put over the carpeted landing area that they traipsed in and out of. They indicated they would clean that area, but later on I found out that would be a chargeable cost. Regarding wet items moved - a week later on I found some boxes with water still in them. They left area rugs on top of my wall to wall carpet which caused the underlying carpet not to dry well. The drying took twice as long in the basement as originally estimated, so the daily charges increased the cost. I was provided a detailed invoice of all the charges however I don't know if these were legitimate or reasonable as this had never happened to us, and in these circumstances we were unable to obtain other quotes. However, they were measuring the humidity to validate in the drywall and room, so I assume that their dry time was correct. Follow up appointment times for checking stuff - they were always late, however they usually notified me. I did not use them for any restoration work, as I didn't have a lot of confidence that they would be skilled to do the work. They removed some area rugs to try and clean, but they never did clean them and I had to call multiple times to get them returned. The crew was very polite which I appreciated. I don't think I would recommend them or use them again - overall I would give them a C to C-."

Ceramic tile services FAQs

The average cost of installing tile is around $2,000, ranging between $400 and $6,500, depending on the type of tile, square footage of tile, and whether or not your tiling contractor performs site preparation, like removing old tile. On average, you can expect to pay between $5 and $45 per square foot, largely depending on the type and quality of the tiles you choose. For example, ceramic and travertine tile cost about $1 per square foot, but luxury tile options like marble cost up to $350 per square foot, not including labor.

Yes, tiling a bathroom is a great way to boost the value of your home. Tile is a highly durable and attractive building material, and savvy buyers will know they’re getting a low-maintenance flooring or wall covering that can last for 75 years or more. Keep in mind that the return on investment from tiling your bathroom will likely be higher if a professional tile installer does the work. Tiling is a complicated job, and mistakes will be very evident and detract from the appearance and value of the finished work.

On average, you can expect the tiling in your bathroom to take around 12 hours, usually spread over at least two to three days. The process can take longer if your tile installer needs to remove old tile first. Tiling a floor takes around six hours, and tiling the shower area often takes six to 10 hours. Some factors that affect the length of the project include the type of tile, the layout of your bathroom, and any prep work that your installer needs to do beforehand. It’s best to have an alternate bathroom available during the process.

Tile will almost always last longer than laminate flooring, regardless of the type of tile installed. Porcelain tile can last for 75 years or more with proper care, and even less durable ceramic tile will last for 60 years or more, provided they’re installed by a tile professional. On the other hand, laminate flooring has an average lifespan of around 20 years, and you might only get 10 to 15 years out of low-cost laminate flooring. As such, tile will add far more value to your home than laminate.

To find a local tile installer, your first step is to connect with professionals in your area and interview them. Ask the following questions to get a sense of their experience and ability:

  • How many years have you been in business?

  • Do you have a list of references I can contact?

  • What materials—tile, thinset, and mortar—will you use?

  • Does your pricing include materials and labor?

  • How long will my bathroom or kitchen be out of commission while you work?

Then, compare prices to find the best value for your investment.
