"I hired Phillips Waterproofing and Concrete for a sump pump and moisture panel installation, and it was a complete nightmare. The work was sloppy and unprofessional: the corners of the moisture panels were left curved, concrete wasn?t poured to the walls, and the sump pump pipe was installed in front of my kitchen cabinets with only a thin, choppy, unfinished pour. I paid over $2,000 for them to stain the concrete, but they never completed the job despite multiple scheduled appointments. They now ignore calls and messages entirely, and both the owner, Kevin Phillips, and son Dylan, have full voicemail boxes. To make matters worse, the original problem?backflow in my half bath?was not resolved, and my home flooded again just weeks after their installation. It is possible to remove a Lally column in the basement, but a lot of planning and money will go into doing it safely. Since Lally columns provide structural support, you’ll need a structural engineer to draw up plans for your renovation and determine what additional supports—like steel I-beams—can replace the column. You should never attempt to remove a basement Lally column yourself, as doing so will almost certainly compromise the structural integrity of your home.

An easy way to cut concrete pavers without a saw is to use a hammer and chisel. You can make a few passes over your paver with a hammer and chisel to make a fissure where you want the paver to break. Once the divot is about 1/8 inch thick, drive the chisel hard into the center of the line to complete the cut without using a saw.

Removing fence posts that are set in concrete is something you can't do by hand. You will need an excavator, a strong post-puller, or a jackhammer. If you plan on recycling the concrete base, you may be able to cut the post out with a jackhammer and then set the new post in the existing base. However, it's usually better to remove both the fence post and concrete together. Due to the weight of concrete, you will need a hydraulic removal tool.
