"Very courteous and professional experience from scheduling in the office to the plumber who did the work. I needed a gas line ran for a stove and had some issues with water supply to a tub. They did a free estimate and were priced much better than local competition. The work done was top notch, more affordable didn't mean a lesser quality of work. And no hidden fees, the prices quoted for the options were what I was billed. I was very pleased with the work done by Tyler and by the friendliness and courtesy all around from the company. Highly recommended!"

"The workers, Austin Vickers and Todd Lucas, were professional and did an exceptional job. They replaced our old tub and shower with a new walk-in shower along with replacing the plumbing. They did a 5-star job and I would highly recommend these workers and West Shore Home to anyone needing work on their home."

"We are pleased with our bath remodel that included a new tub, tub surround and wainscot walls. There was one small problem with the walls due to the ceiling and walls not being plumb however they did go above and beyond by doing more than was was agreed upon by making plumbing improvements, installing a new lighted medicine cabinet and repairing a light fixture. They were very courteous and the installer even made a suggestion for a change that we agreed would be better."

"Had them lay waterproof bamboo laminate flooring in bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room. Replaced sink in bathroom. Made a change order to install a vent fan/light in bathroom. Mark is very nice and easy to work with. However, he isn't very organized. He writes his estimates and orders on a yellow legal pad separated from others by only drawing a line. This leads to errors. The software he uses later is not very good. It asked for reviews before job had been started. It has been completed as of this review. Initially, there was a discrepancy between his charges and his quote. When I told him about it, he quickly fixed it with no quibbling. There was also a mistake in the onyx sink he ordered so we had to wait for the correct one to arrive. The flooring he sold me was specially priced so many contractors had ordered it so there was a large backorder so that led to a delay beyond his control. As mentioned, I had to submit a change order due to the fact I forgot to place it in my initial request. That was easily added by them. Initially, I was very pleased by the workmanship, but since they left I have noticed a few things that could have been finished better. Make no mistake. I think these things are minor. The flooring is laid solidly and there are no gaps except around the perimeter. It feels like there may still be a problem 2-3 inches out from my bathtub where the flooring might crease. The sink was installed very nicely and they even replaced the drain-pipe. I'm not sure they have the stool in the upstairs bathroom completely sealed. Otherwise, we are greatly pleased and feel these minor things likely occur with any project."

"Z&M Construction, Excavation & Septic provided and acceptable and affordable solution to the drainage problem on the property. If the City of Fort Scott had not intervened (as the problem with drainage was due to their negligence) I would have hired Z&M."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Prices for shower drain styles vary. For example, a linear shower drain costs about $200 or more for the part alone compared to about $15 for a circular shower drain. Also, linear shower drains typically require a shower remodel to use them, so you may pay a few hundred dollars more for labor. Read about the pros and cons of linear shower drains.

The first rule of plumbing is nothing but water, toilet paper, number one, and number two go down the drain.

To prevent clogs, get yourself:

  • A compast pail where you can clean plates, drain grease, and toss scraps and paper towels.

  • Drain screens for the shower, tub, and bathroom sink to stop hair, jewelry, toys, etc. from going down the drain.

  • Trash cans for everything that shouldn’t go down the drain, like dental floss, hygiene products, and cat litter.

P.S.: If you do drop your priceless ring down the drain, take a deep breath, and then follow these steps to retrieve jewelry from your drain.

Although linear drains allow water to flow quickly and efficiently, they tend to clog more easily than traditional drains. Linear drains are flush with the shower floor, allowing soap scum and hair to potentially build up. They’re also longer than other drains, allowing for more space to let debris fall into the drainpipe.

There are several reasons why you might not get enough water pressure in your house. For one, you might have leaky pipes—a common cause of low water pressure—that divert water flow from the places you need it (like your faucets and showers). Blocked pipes, faulty fixtures, and closed valves are three more possible culprits. In other cases, your low water pressure might be the result of a local water supply issue.

There are several types of sink drain stoppers, including pull-out, twist-and-pull, and pop-up. Pull-out sink stoppers can be removed by pulling on the stopper until it comes out of the drain. A twist-and-pull design requires lifting then turning the stopper to lock it in an open position and the opposite action (turning, then pressing down) to close it. A pop-up sink stopper works by pushing down the drain cover to open or close the passageway.
