"Fitzpatrick plumbing was a game changer not only was the work done promptly and the water heater is excellent, but he also told me about other things that needed to be done before it became a hazard to my well-being. He also gave me a plan to do those things in a way that was affordable! He is now my forever plumber."

"I am completely in love with my new shower that Bath Pro KC did for me last week! I had an ancient tub and shower wall insert, and redesigning it was one of the last major cosmetic upgrades I was itching to make to my house. After receiving a few bids, I opted to hire Bath Pro KC, as not only was their pricing incredibly competitive in comparison to the others, but I simply liked Steve and his approach to the bidding process the most. He was extremely communicable about the timeline in which the project would be done, options, colors, and of course pricing. I had a clear vision of what I wanted done, and they were able to make it happen! I had one very precise requirement in regards to the new shower head and its GPM/flow rate, and Steve absolutely listened to my concerns and researched the products available to make it happen with a beautiful Moen product that I am 100% thrilled with. The old shower was demolished down to the studs, and new water lines with shut off valves and a drain were put in along with new drywall and an Onyx shower system. I went with the glacier white pan, subway tiles in the white snow swirl, a shave bar, 4 shelves, the Moen shower head and valve, and sliding glass doors. I really love this Onyx system they use, it looks and feels like luxurious stone/tile but doesn't come with the hassle (and eventual deterioration) of grout. The installation took 2 days and the tech was extremely respectful of the space, moving in and around the house between the shower and his work truck, and making sure to always check in when decisions needed to be made in regards to shelf spacing, shower head height, etc. Their lead time at the time of when I booked them was 5 months, which is a long time to wait. But if you're willing to be patient, I think it says many great things about a business that they're so busy with happy clients, you have to wait a bit to have your job done. That means they're in demand based upon a stellar reputation, and do the job well! And that was exactly my experience. Thank you!"

"We thought we had a sinkhole but Corbin determined it was a huge, old septic tank! In one day it was fixed. He communicated well and tried hard to repair grass spots that equipment dug into as well as smoothing out the fill dirt. We wouldn’t hesitate to hire again."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

You might be able to find your pipe leak by doing a visual inspection around your appliances and under your sink. Don’t forget to check your water heater too. If you find moisture or puddles of water, then you know you’re on the right track—you may need a repair or water heater replacement.

Knowing how to find a water leak can be tricky, but you can try the paper towel method. Lay paper towels on the floor and see where the moisture lands. You can also wrap toilet paper around pipes to locate a small leak.

Putting caulk around a toilet’s base where it touches the flooring can help hold the toilet in place. A more effective way is using caulk with plastic shim wedges. Place the shims underneath the base to steady and stabilize the toilet. Add some caulk to help keep the shims in place and provide a stronger and more lasting stabilization effect.

The most common places for water leaks in a home are the fixtures we use most often: the kitchen and bathroom sinks, the showerhead, and the toilet. These components all contain moving parts and O-rings that prevent water from flowing through when the fixtures are shut off, and these can wear down over time and lead to minor drips or significant leaks. You can sometimes employ a DIY solution to replace aerators or faucet O-rings that could be causing the leak, but it’s usually best to call in a professional for a permanent fix.

Yes, rats can come up through drains. They can crawl through basement floor drains, lateral house drains, and roof drains. Installing rat blockers in your drains is the best way to repel rats and prevent them from entering your pipes. These are one-way valves that allow water and waste to flow out but keep rats from getting in.

Plumbing leaks are usually not covered by homeowners insurance because the problems are avoidable with proper maintenance. In most cases, you’ll have to pay out of pocket for a fix. However, if the leak is a direct result of a natural disaster, like an earthquake that cracked a pipe or a house fire, your insurance may cover the repairs.
