Chimney service. Small company three employees. Contractor for construction services. Residential and small commercial.
"I have found my go-to chimney and tuck pointing provider! Steve and his team were prompt, courteous and professional. From the initial bid, I understood the work that was taking place, why it needed to be done and I had confidence that it would be done well. They have a nice way of being able to explain things in simple, straightforward terms. I got several bids on my job and nobody was able to match KC Chimney's whole package (price, service and quality). I had confidence in them to do a very big job and they did amazing work for me. I would use them again without hesitation."

He recommended quality fireplace products and a fair quote for chimney repairs. No hidden costs. Our choices were 2 fireplace inserts, upstairs we preferred a wood burning unit and downstairs a gas burning unit. "Awful installation. One issue after another. The project was "finished" March 2024. 1) Damage to property The installation process seemed to go smoothly, but upon inspection, I noted a ripped screen, damaged windowsill, and a shorn tree trunk (small tree out in front). Clearly it was done from something falling off the roof during installation. I took photos. I sent them to the project manager (via text and email). No response. I got a call from the marketing department asking if my home (and myself) could be featured on the website. I said, sure. Fix my ripped screen first! The marketer said that she'd contact the project manager directly. She did. Finally, 2 hours later after 6 days of silence, the project manager gets back to me. He said, "I saw the photos. I asked my crew. They said that it was like that before". My response: No. It wasn't. He then said that he'd be out the next day to fix it himself. He never showed. He FINALLY showed up an finally fixed the shredded screen. (I didn't mention the squashed downspout). 2) A tile from the roof came off. I contacted the original point man, and he came out immediately to re-attach it. 3) We noticed water damage to the ceiling in the bedroom. Multiple places where there was CLEARLY water getting into the house. I've tried 3 times now to get a response. Nothing so far. AVOID THIS COMPANY."

Chimney repairs can take many forms for a seemingly simple structure, and costs can vary widely. Common chimney repairs include:
Chimney flashing repair: $150–$500
Repointing mortar joints: $400–$2,500
Repair or replacement of flue liners: $200–$7,000
Patching brick or stone: $350–$3,000
Pouring a new concrete top: $100–$3,000
Repairing chimney caps: $75–$1,000
The cost to replace the chimney crown or top is about $1,550 on average. The range varies widely depending on the size of the chimney, the materials used, accessibility, and the extent of the damage. If you suspect a problem with your chimney top, call a professional masonry contractor for an inspection.
Some of the most common chimney problems include:
Creosote buildup
Chimney blockage
Deteriorating brickwork or stonework
Cracked chimney top
Damaged flashing
Flue liner damage or deterioration
Damaged chimney cap
If you suspect you have a chimney problem, contact a masonry contractor for an inspection.
On average, chimney repairs cost about $455. However, because of the vast range of potential repairs needed, the cost to repair a chimney ranges widely from $160 to $15,000, depending on the type and extent of repairs required.
The cost to replace a chimney is about $10,000 on average and can cost up to $15,000, depending on the size, accessibility, materials, and extent of the replacement. Sometimes tearing the chimney down to the roof line and rebuilding it is an option. But if the chimney's internal structure deteriorates badly enough, a complete demolition down to the fireplace or the foundation may be necessary.
