"I hired them to remove a hanging tree branch tangled in power lines and while they were there to get the debris pile out of my yard. They had a low bid and they were able to get to me the same day! They told me they also do landscaping. I’ll probably be hiring them again in the future. Oh, and they didn’t just get the debris pile, they raked all the sticks up from the whole yard!"

Re-roofing is the process of placing a layer of shingles over top of existing shingles, rather than pulling out those shingles and replacing them. Compared to a full roof replacement, re-roofing typically costs less and requires less labor and time. It's not an option for everyone, though. EPDM roofing is a single-ply roofing material made of rubber, and a professional will install it in a single sheet and seal the seams. Built-up roofing (BUR) consists of multiple layers made from asphalt, adhesives, and roofing felt. A professional will construct the layers of BUR on-site. EPDM is easier to repair and has better resistance to extreme temperatures, while BUR is more fire-resistant and affordable.

You can technically install a metal roof over asphalt shingles, but it isn’t a good idea. This is because you’re essentially creating a moisture barrier under the metal, which can easily—and often does—lead to significant mold damage. Removing an asphalt roof isn’t terribly expensive, and some roofing companies might cut you a serious labor and disposal discount if you add it to a new install.

You can install solar panels on a flat or pitched roof, but keep in mind that they will need to rest at a 30- to 50-degree tilt for optimal sun absorption. It costs more to install solar panels on a flat roof because you will need to install a framing system and likely hire a structural engineer. If your roof has a pitch of more than 40 degrees, it may not be a good candidate for solar panels.
