We are a new company servicing the Kansas City area. Our main goal and focus is to provide contractors in the area with a quality continuing education experience, at a more convenient time. We will focus primarily on holding continuing education courses in the evenings and on weekends. We have found that most contractors prefer to get the required educational hours fulfilled outside of their workday, as it does not take away from their income. Number of employees:1-5

PDQ Construction is a full service remodeling company and was formed in 2003. Mike Pressgrove is President and does the estimating as well as the marketing of the company. Mike brings many years of experience to PDQ. He has worked in the building industry for over 30 years and has done everything from framing to finishing work over the years. Mike has designations from the National Home Builders Association as a Graduate Master Remodeler, a Certified Aging in Place Specialist and a Certified Green Professional. Rick Hudkins is Vice President and is Project Manager. Additional E-mail - [email protected]. Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, Certified Graduate Remodeler, Certified Green Professional

"If I could give this review zero stars I would. On PDQ’s website they have a quote, “the bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten.“ They put this on their website because their prices are not cheap so they are trying to sell people on the high quality of work that they do. However, in my experience with PDQ, the price was high and the quality was still extremely poor. The owner, Mike, was very personable and likable during the estimate and walk through process. Once he had our business, that all changed. First of all, he promised us several times that once his crew started our job he would not send them to a different job until ours was 100% completed. We were told the project would take about 3 months to complete. It took PDQ 9 full months to complete our job and, on multiple occasions, he sent the entire crew to other jobs so nothing got done on our house for a day (or days) at a time. (Actually, there were several things that didn’t end up getting completed until 5 months after Mike pulled his crew…a full 12 months after they were hired). 7 months in, he came in and did a walk-through with his crew and, before leaving, told them that they had two days to finish the job and then he was sending them on to the next job. The crew had more than two days worth of work left to do so they rushed through as much as they could and still didn’t get everything completed. They had to come back multiple times over the next two months to clean up, touch up, and complete work that was sloppily rushed through or incomplete. In the end, we ended up hiring a professional cleaner to come in and clean the entire house because of the mess they had made and we had to trash several pieces of furniture because they had been destroyed (see pictures). And during this whole process, Mike was very unpleasant to deal with and demanded payment in full, even though the job was not completed. Once the job is done, we noticed the final invoice had been altered from the signed contract with a pencil (Mike had gone back and written in several things after we had all signed). In the end, my spouse just wanted to be done with him so we ended up paying for additional items that were not done to our home (several thousands of dollars). I thought about writing a review at that time but really just wanted to be done and move on. However, we are now less than a year since the “completion“ of our project and have had multiple issues with their work. The floor that was installed in the basement has major damage and issues caused by the poor installation. We contacted a flooring company that sells the brand and had one of the brand installers come to our house who verified that the problem was with the installation, not the product. We have also had a door and a window leak extremely bad when it rains. I have sent pictures and videos to Mike at PDQ to let him know about the problems. I have called, texted, and walked in his office on multiple occasions over the last three months and still have not been able to get him to send a crew to fix the problems. In fact, other than one text message to acknowledge that he was receiving my texts, he won’t even respond or return a phone call. My next step is to contact a lawyer and get the legal system involved. Do NOT be fooled by the show put on by Mike prior to signing a contract. This owner does NOT care about you, your satisfaction, or the quality of his work. He just wants to get paid. Not all pictures and videos from our issues are attached, however, all attached have been provided to Mike on multiple occasions."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Regular dusting, avoiding moisture exposure, and sealing cracks early help maintain longevity.

While you should consult with a ceiling professional for larger cracks, especially if you’re not sure what’s causing your ceiling to crack, you can certainly try to repair small cracks on your own. If you’re up for the task, here’s how to repair ceiling cracks for $150 or less.

You can repair plaster ceilings yourself after the cause of the ceiling damage has been addressed. However, the repair can easily take 5 hours and can be slightly challenging for those without previous experience. If you do decide to flex your DIY muscle, have a helper to help hold the ladder and pass you the tools for safety purposes.

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.

Only use spackle on plaster walls when the imperfection is small. It’s best used for nail holes or small dings in the plaster. Spackle dries quickly, allowing you to continue the repair process shortly after using it. Plaster can be tricky to repair, though, so if you run into issues, call a pro so that you don’t risk further damage.
