"360 Painting was a big part of our interior renovations. They were very helpful in choosing the right colors and it was exactly what we wanted. The process was done in a timely manor and cleanup was done as they went along. They were very courteous and professional. I would definitely use them again."

"Peak was only able to address the wall problem, which would have been sufficient if that was the only problem we were facing. We hired another contractor and had the total flooring removed (which included asbestos), and then had the wood floor removed, and a concrete floor poured (4" thick). The other contractor also repaired the concrete walls, and replaced the drywall."

"Samuel did an excellent job for me. He enlarged my current patio, added a pad for my shed, and he installed 2 drains for an existing water drainage issue I was having. He was super quick to respond, very reasonably priced and everything turned out great! I would highly recommend for any of your concrete or contractor needs"

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Small retaining walls still require a foundation of some kind, typically a concrete footing. This helps to ensure the wall is structurally sound and prevents the ground from shifting over time, especially during those winter freeze/thaw cycles. The footing helps spread the weight of the wall and the load it carries over a larger area of the ground, thus assisting with stability. This is true of small retaining walls, larger rock garden walls, and the like.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Railroad ties are typically treated with creosote, which makes them much more durable than untreated wood. Though they last longer, they don’t last forever. For the most longevity, make sure your retaining wall has a sturdy base and steel reinforcements. You should also install drainage to direct water away from the wall.

Depending on who you hire to build a retaining wall, the average cost, including demolition and reconstruction, for a 50-foot wall that's 4 feet in height is between $7,000 and $24,000.

A retaining wall can only function as a fence if it’s high enough on all sides to prevent someone from accidentally falling into the pool. However, most retaining walls retain dirt, which means their purpose is not related to safety. There would need to be nothing on the other side of the wall for it to be considered a fence, but in that case, it wouldn’t retain anything and would cease to be a retaining wall.

Options include concrete, stone, brick, and wood, tailored for specific design needs.
