While our foundation was totally exposed we had a heavy rain. They had placed a pump "just in case" of rain, which quickly failed. Our basement was filled with two to three inches of mud. There was never a call to see if we were having any issues. This would have been bad enough to warrant a not good rating - but it only got worse. 2. When the mudjacking was complete, the dirt was just thrown back in the holes with no compacting done. Major settling in that area occurred for quite some time. 3. And now to the worst part - the egress window. From the very first rain following installation it leaked water into our newly redone basement (that we had waited many years to have the finances to complete). We were told we weren't keeping our gutters cleaned out and that we weren't maintaining positive drainage and that we should have connected that portion of the house to the drain tile that they had installed (but under their recommendation we had not connected the rest of the basement walls since we had never in the 55 years since the house had been built had an issue with any water leaks) and one excuse after another. When we expressed concern that the holes in the egress walls had not been closed up (the ones that would have connected with a drain tile system) we were told they "always" close those. Teresa finally came a dug down just to "show me" that they were closed - they were not. After they closed the holes the problem did not stop. We spent over $6000 on attorney fees trying to get a resolution. Almost every avenue we tried was ignored. We had city inspectors and other basement contractors involved, but we really wanted the solution to come from Neal Construction. It took close to two years for us to get action - digging out the egress, sealing the foundation wall, etc. - and so many hours of our time and so much mental energy. 4. Now on to the basement windows. Within six months of installation, the windows were starting to fail. A neighbor called us one day and asked if we knew our basement window was laying in the grass. We assumed he meant the screen - but the glass had actually fallen out! It was a 100 degree day and who knows how long we had been pouring cold air into the great outdoors. We tried and tried to get Teresa to respond to this too. Finally my husband took it upon himself to get the window manufacturer to send a representative out to look at the windows. Wouldn't you think your contractor would take care of that? So, we had to pay more money to get the windows re-installed - because Neal Construction contracts that out to an individual and so the installation wasn't covered in whatever they consider their "warranty". 5. After all our foundation work was complete they were supposed to bring in "topsoil" and grade around the house. We are still (4 years later) having chunks of brick and rocks come to the surface. This was not "topsoil" this was junk dirt from another project that was easy to move from one location to ours. But it reminds us frequently that a lower bid may not be the wisest one to accept. We have never had an issue with any other contractor that we have hired. We are not complainers and have done enought house remodeling on our own to know that things don't always turn out perfectly or go quite as planned. That is why we dealt with the mud ourselves and why we tried to bring things to a peaceful resolution. But, when a contractor does not take responsibility for the final product being what the consumer has paid for, then we have a problem. We tried to maintain professional dealings with Neal's Construction, but this was not returned with anything except excuses about them doing the work that we contracted them to do. When we were finally finishing the last of the repairs, Teresa did admit that she had "maybe taken on a little too much" at the time she was doing our basement work and that things hadn't been completed as well as they should have been. This was the closest we ever got to an apology or admission of inferior workmanship. This is the worst company we know about in Wichita. I hope we never have to write a similar review. My husband dealt with the Gutter Guys for the most part. Out of the companies we received estimates from, they were the most professional and the price seemed reasonable from other estimates. We were promised that they would fix any issue we were having with our gutters and adjust things until it was right. (We were having an issue of water dumping over the side of one of the corners, and leaking on the backside of the house. We have had a leaky basement in the past, so this was a big concern for us.) The workers were punctual, and the work was done in a timely manner. They put up all new gutters and removed and hauled away our old ones. A few weeks later, there was a big rainstorm so we could see the gutters working. Most of it looked great, however, there was still a tiny leak in the part I described earlier. Nothing terrible, but enough that it was making a puddle in front of our house. My husband emailed the owner and sent a picture, asking if this was to be expected or if it could be readjusted. The next day Gutter Guys were at my door, readjusted the gutters and fixed the issue. So far, so good! We are very happy with our gutters, and are extremely happy with the service and reliability of this company. I would recommend them and have to some family members. We hired JM Plumbing to repair a water line that was leaking. Jaime came over, quickly assessed the problem, gave us a repair estimate and had it fixed expeditiously. He was friendly and we will not hesitate to call him again when we need a plumber.

Great! The water we were getting in the basement around both chimneys has stopped and we haven't had to pay to repair the entire basement.

It supports everything else – walls, windows, floors, doorways, roof – so when your foundation is damaged, it can cause serious problems throughout your home. Like most things in life, your foundation is subject to environmental stress. Expanding and contracting soil, excessive moisture and inadequate drainage are some of the most common threats to your home’s foundation. Over time, environmental stressors can cause a foundation to shift, crack or settle unevenly. And homeowners often miss early warning signs of foundation damage. Homeowners spend about $4 billion annually stabilizing faulty foundations, and those costs may increase as more homes are built in areas known for shifting soil. Understanding risk factors and signs of foundation problems can help you protect your most valuable asset from irreversible damage.
"Terrible service, our front was sinking due to our fireplace. We got a quote ($28,000), for their "patented" footings - enormous metal poles under each of the house supports for the front. Pretty slick snowjob, they quoted us 3 days but took 5. They dumped all the concrete they removed in the backyard without asking and left an enormous hole in the front of the house where the fireplace is. When I (5'1" femme) asked to speak to a supervisor about the delay and dumping, they sent a good old boy (300 pds, 6'2") to scream at me in my living room. No supervisor was present to verify the work and I was not permitted to watch them. They pressured me to sign the inspection form, without me inspecting anything. They are a SCAMMMM! I would only recommend Olshan as revenge."

FAQs for basement leak repair projects in Eastborough, KS
The cost to finish a basement is $18,400 for the average homeowner. However, this cost could be as little as $2,800 or as much as $34,500, depending on the basement size and the materials needed. If your basement is already outfitted with electrical and plumbing, expect the cost to fall on the lower end.
For example, the drywall cost for this project averages around $1,750, but other features, like hiring a plumber, cost between $45 and $200 per hour.
The cost to remodel a basement is between $12,100 and $33,400 for the average homeowner. The price you pay can be as little as $3,500 or as much as $50,200, depending on the size and condition of your basement and the type of remodel you're doing.
If you're doing a simple project like adding a home office to your basement, you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $3,000. However, if you're adding a bathroom, which is an extensive project, you can expect to pay between $6,600 to $16,500.
Damp proofing and waterproofing are both methods to help keep your basement dry. Damp proofing keeps soil moisture from entering your basement, which is helpful since your basement is underground. Waterproofing, however, keeps both soil moisture and liquid water out of the basement, which is essential, especially if you live in a wet environment. Because it’s more protective, waterproofing typically costs more than damp proofing.
Although homeowners often use the terms basement remodeling and basement finishing interchangeably, they are quite different terms.
Finishing a basement is the process of taking a basement space that is not habitable and adding elements to make it usable. This includes adding plumbing, flooring, and insulation.
Remodeling a basement means taking an already existing finished basement and changing it, often by adding or removing walls, adding plumbing, or changing the existing flooring.
The cost of basement waterproofing is $4,950 for the average homeowner. However, you could end up paying between $600 and $14,000, depending on factors like basement size, waterproofing method, and the region you live in.
If you live in an area with heavy rainfall, you might be paying more for waterproofing than if you lived somewhere drier since waterproofing contractors would be in high demand. Likewise, a 500-foot basement costs between $2,500and $5,000 to waterproof, but that price rises significantly for a larger basement.
