"Absolutely AMAZING! Nathan came out and gave me a quote same day I called. Knowing I have a family he had his plumber at my house the following day. The guy had my whole house re-piped in less than 2 hours and when I received my bill today I expected the worse! I'll tell you it was less than $500! I wouldn't have been able to get it snaked for less let alone new plumbing. He will work with you and treat you fantastic! I recommend Browns over any other place in SEK!! I was praying God would bless me because I couldn't afford a huge bill. He sure did! I couldn't have asked for any better blessing! I am not just saying it they are truly a blessing to our community and good at what they do! If you go elsewhere and don't at least get a quote from them first you are missing out!"

"I called Tap Heating and Cooling early Sunday afternoon.  John was at the house within an hour.  He explained to me what the problem was and how it could be fixed.  He left to go get parts and was back within the hour like he said.  He assured me he wasn't leaving until I had heat.  When he left I had heat.  Thank you John.  In the future Tap has won my business.  Nothing but professionalism, honesty, and courteousness was shown.  Great customer service.  You will be hearing from me in the near future.

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

The key difference between a standard spigot (or regular hose bib) and a frost-free hose bib is its design to prevent freezing and pipe bursting during cold weather. A standard spigot is a basic outdoor faucet. In contrast, a frost-free hose bib has a longer stem that extends into the heated interior of the house, placing the shut-off valve inside where it's protected from freezing temperatures. This design, often combined with a downward-sloping supply pipe, ensures water drains out of the faucet body when turned off, preventing ice formation. This allows you to leave the water supply on year-round without the risk of pipe damage, making it a valuable choice for regions with harsh winters.

If the shut-off valve to your kitchen sink appears to be stuck or broken, there's no need to panic! The workaround is to turn off the main valve that supplies water to your entire household. This valve is located along the main water line. Of course, it's also important to have a plumber repair the malfunctioning shut-off valve under your kitchen sink because this indicates a problem.

In an emergency plumbing situation, taking the time to vet a plumber properly might not be feasible. Instead, it’s helpful to ask the following questions to gauge the experience and expertise of the plumber you’re considering quickly:

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • Are you licensed and insured?

  • How quickly are you able to get to my property?

You can quickly check some online reviews and the Better Business Bureau (BBB) page for the plumber to get a sense of the quality of service they provide.

You can temporarily patch a leaking copper pipe using epoxy putty or adhesive tape. These are not permanent solutions, and you will eventually need to remove and replace the damaged portion of the pipe.

For a smaller pinhole, you can solder it closed using plumbing flux. Again, this is only a temporary solution, but it will give you time to hire a plumber and go over your options.

You can tell if your toilet fill valve is full by removing the lid and taking a look. When you flush the toilet, the float is at the bottom of the tank, the water empties, and the fill valve opens. The float rises to the top as the tank fills again with water. When the float rises to the right level, the fill valve closes; if the valve is too high, your toilet may only partially flush, requiring you to adjust the float.
