"Black Panther Tree Service did a great job. They were reasonably priced and got the job done quickly. Our situation was alittle complex thanks to the neighbor but Black Panther rose to the challenge. I only did 4 stars because to me 5 stars means perfect and no one is perfect in my opinion. We all can learn more and do better. Thank you Black Panther Tree Service."

"Double H Tree Care did an amazing job trimming back several overgrown trees that were hanging over my roof. They were very professional and made sure not to damage any property. The trees are now shaped beautifully. Great communication from start to finish. I highly recommend them for any tree trimming needs!"

"He was amazing! Very courteous and fast! A large tree next to our driveway was struck by lightning and a huge branch with dozens of smaller branches fell over onto our driveway making it impassable. It turned out the large branch (10-12 inches wide) was alive but hollow. He gave me an estimate for just cutting the branch down, which was insanely less than I thought it would be because he had to use the bucket to get up to where it had to be cut. Not only did he cut the main brach off the tree, but he cut up about 15 feet of dozens of branches and the large branch itself into small pieces so they could be easily moved, something another company said would be an extra $100. Will definitely use this company again!!"

"Great team. The work needed to be done was located in a ‘hard to get at’ location on my property and they planned, organized the work, brought equipment, safely removed massive trees, and cleaned up the debris without damaging structures or property."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

If you’re wondering why tree trunks are painted white in your area, it’s usually to prevent sunscald, a condition where extreme shifts in temperature can cause tree bark to split. Fruit trees are especially vulnerable to sunscald, so this treatment is worth considering if it’s something that affects your trees.

As a general rule, the protected area should be about 1½ times as wide as the canopy of the tree’s leaves. This digging measurement can vary by tree species and the age of the tree. Of course, that can be a lot of fencing for larger trees, which is why our first step is about making difficult decisions on which trees to save.

The safest way to cut down a tree is to make sure you’re completely prepared and have done all the necessary safety checks, including double-checking your equipment is in good working order, you have plenty of clearance to fell the tree, you’re wearing all the safety gear, and you have a partner to help you (who should also be wearing safety gear).

You will know that an oak tree needs to be removed when you see vertical cracks or dead branch stubs, which indicate internal decay. Other signs include trunk rot near the base of the tree and sprouts or small branches coming from the trunk.

Common signs that a tree is rotting include dead branches, a leaning trunk, peeling or cracked bark, leaf discoloration, and the presence of fungi. If you notice any of these signs, it’s best to hire an arborist near you to inspect your tree and determine if it can be saved or if it needs to come down.
