Customers say: True professional

"Ryan was very courteous and he arrived on time and he did a fabulous job. I would hire him again if I needed any masonry work. He had another friend come over and help him. Together they completed rebuilding a brick and stone chimney in about 3 1/2 hours. In addition they cleaned the soffit vents and power washed the deck. They cleaned up very well after the work was done. I am very happy I hired Ryan of RCO Masonry and Restoration LLC."

"These guys were awesome!! From the initial estimate to the finished product stellar service all around. They were very informative every step of the way with our chimney rebuild project. What started out as tuck pointing quickly escalated to a rebuild. Our chimney was not well maintained by the previous owner. This company was on it even after it quickly escalated to a larger project. They still got it done same day and it looks fantastic! Can’t recommend them high enough. If you need some masonry work done call these guys for sure."

"Mike and staff were very prompt, professional and precise. They were hired to install pavers in my backyard to compliment my deck and expand my out door living space. I met with Mike, explained my needs and he suggested pavers and worked with my budget. I am definitely pleased and will call them again for future landscaping needs."

"They did all the work really fast and took pictures before and after the work was done, gave us alot of details. I do not like having to pay every year for the warranty but that ensures that they will take care of any foundation issues for the life of the basement so I guess I will pay it."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

You should generally drill into the mortar joints when installing shutters on brick. Mortar is softer, which makes drilling easier and puts less strain on your tools. It also lowers the risk of cracking a brick—something that’s a lot harder to fix. Mortar holds fasteners well enough for standard shutters, and if you ever need to patch the holes later, it’s a much simpler job than dealing with damaged brick. Just keep in mind that if your mortar joints are too thin or the hardware calls for brick anchoring, you'll need to check the manufacturer’s recommendations and adjust accordingly.

You can use a regular drill to make pilot holes for gutter brackets in the wooden fascia board around the top of your house, but it’s not the best tool for brick. Instead, you’ll need a heavy-duty power tool like a hammer drill with a carbide tip bit.

Europe is a continent made of many individual countries with a history of city life. In these cities, dirt roads were unsanitary and often shifted. The Ancient Romans started laying cobblestone streets in the 3rd century, which became an iconic feature of European cities. The durable and practical paving material proved to be extremely weather-resistant.

Granite is the strongest commercially available stone houses are built from. It’s also more commonly available, which means transport costs aren’t as high because a granite quarry isn’t too far from a build site. Limestone and sandstone are popular materials as well, but they aren’t as strong or weather-resistant as granite.

Yes, limewash on brick can accumulate dust over time. Its porous nature can attract dust particles, especially in environments with high levels of dust or dirt. Additionally, if the limewash surface is left unsealed, it may be more prone to collecting dust. Additionally, incorrectly applied limewash will generate dust. Causes include applying it too thickly instead of thin layers and not allowing enough drying time between layers. Regular maintenance, such as gentle cleaning or dusting, can help mitigate dusty issues.
