"Problem was rain water penetrating the foundation cement blocks and being forced up to wet the subfloor. Foundation blocks also had cracked in one location. Solution was to apply plastic and sealant to the outside foundation wall and to pipe water away. Also Ever-Dry workers installed sump pumps and perforated pipe around the inside foundation wall (in crawl space), drilled the blocks on the inside to allow any water in the blocks to escape to the sump pumps. The foundation vents were sealed, a dehumidifying system was installed, and heavy vinyl was installed over the floor. The workers were very punctual and courteous. The only improvement would have been if they had done a little better job of removing the building rubble that was uncovered during the foundation trenching."
"The crews were extraordinarily polite, friendly, efficient, and very energetic. They ran into a lot of underground water when digging the trench for the buckled wall repair, but were able to put in the necessary reinforcements from inside the basement extending out to the trenched area. We live in an area with a lot of underground springs and artesian water, and when they began work the dirt under the foundation and crawl space was just wet mud, and water poured in at 36 inches deep as they created an outlet for the water to be safely drained away from the house. The basement is completely dry and we have a back up sump pump. My basement is surrounded by a crawl space since it was added after the house was built. The sump pumps and dehumidifier are warrantied for 5 years and the waterproofing has a lifetime warranty. Our house had problems because the basement was added after the house was built, but Indiana Foundation was able to make the house safe, and completely dry and usable. Since we live on a hillside, we will be adding a French drain behind the house and garage, far enough away to not further damage any of the foundations, but at the natural flow of the hillside where water collects to run down hill or underground. If we go at least 36 inches deep, it should help reduce some of the water that flows into the house area. This was some advice given by the supervisor at Indiana Foundation. They don't install French drains any longer, as they don't carry away all water and don't carry a guarantee, but in our situation it will probably help and is something I will be contracting out in the near future. The French drain is similar to what farmers install in fields to drain away excess water to a creek or deep ditch. It isn't something we have to do, but it will put a lot less strain on the sump pumps and other equipment, and in case of a long term power outage, would likely save our other appliances too (furnace, water heater, walls, etc.). I love the battery back up pump and it has already been in use twice when we had two separate power outages from storms. The workmen from Indiana Foundation were delightful to have in my home, running in and out with loads of materials, cheerfully hammering the walls and floors to install their system. Second: My electrician was able to repair a line running to our garage after the water problem was resolved. Water poured in over the connections in the basement without our realizing it, and no electricity was live in the back room of the garage. New basement, New Electric, New Plumbing - we are very happy with the results!"

"Chris King was extremely professional on the phone when I called him about two potential foundation issues within my home. He took the time to explain different potential foundation issues and the methods that he uses to fix them. When I told him I needed an appointment as soon as possible he took time to work my service call into his schedule, between other appointments. He arrived on time and inspected my foundation problem areas and educated me about the types of indicators that evidence whether water is actually intruding into the home. Fortunately, my probably was not grave but he did proceed with filling/sealing the crack. The best thing about Chris and C.King Foundation & Construction was not only his professionalism , knowledge and timeliness but that he also guarantees his work. "

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts
Whether to waterproof your basement from the interior or exterior depends on several factors, including your budget.
Exterior waterproofing is generally considered the superior method because it stops water at the source, preventing it from seeping into and damaging your basement walls. This approach offers the most protection, making it ideal if you use your basement for storage.
By contrast, interior waterproofing is often less expensive and requires less labor because the area is more accessible.
For maximum protection against water leakage and moisture, applying waterproofing measures to both the inside and outside is the best solution. However, if you must choose only one, stopping water from the outside is the most effective approach to preserve your foundation and prevent damage.
Ideally, your sump pump discharge should run down a natural downhill slope 10 to 20 feet away from your home’s foundation. However, if your property is naturally flat, that might not be an option. Instead, you may be able to discharge it into a neighborhood storm drain or a nearby creek or pond. If that’s not possible, consider burying it underground.
Start by calling a plumber if you want to install a sump pump battery backup. Talk to them about your situation and needs. Sometimes, electricians or waterproofing contractors will install a battery backup, and in that case, the plumber you call should be able to point you in the right direction.
Statistics show that 98% of basements will experience some form of water damage over time. However, that doesn’t mean all basements will experience severe flooding. The best way to prevent a water-damaged basement is to keep up with home maintenance and have proper drainage installed outside your home to direct water away from the foundation. You can also consider building a flood wall around the house if you live in a flood-prone area.
A sump pump can be added to an existing basement. To do this, you will need to use a jackhammer or sledgehammer to break up the concrete and dig a pit. You will also need to create a hole in your basement wall to run the discharge pipe through.
