"I highly recommend Steve and his crew at Crest Mark. Steve is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He also explains things in a straightforward and easy to understand manner. He also communicates well, letting you know of arrival times, anticipated costs, updates and project completion. Of the estimates I received, his was in the middle, but I did not have to worry about it being too low, and lots of "extras" being added in to the final price, or so high that I would have attempted to do it myself and caused further damage or injured myself. I requested a quote to rehang/repair siding on the second floor of the house after high winds knocked it down. Steve came out, inspected the siding (to see if it needed replaced or could be re-used; and fortunately it could) and checked other areas around the house that are typically damaged by high winds. He also explained how the process would work if more extensive and/or expensive repairs were needed and we wanted to file with our homeowners insurance. After accepting his estimate, we planned for later in the week, or possibly the next (depending on his other jobs, but also heavily depending on weather) to complete the work. We were very fortunate and caught a break with mild temperatures and no precipitation, with him calling me the next day to let me know that if someone would be there to bring the siding outside, we could get it done that day. Steve and his crew came out immediately and completed the job, using the existing siding, and fastening it more securely than it had been previously fastened. New flooring costs quite a bit, so longevity is important to think about. Concrete generally has the longest life span, but it’s not always a good solution for homes with wooden subfloors. That said, hardwood floors and stone floors can last up to 100 years, and you can refinish or restore them to remove imperfections from daily wear.
Laminate flooring should be stacked horizontally and laid flat to avoid any warping or stress to the boards. To stack it, you should do so in a grid with each row of flooring packages positioned at a 90-degree angle to the layer beneath it. This will provide the best support so the flooring will not sag in the middle.
Steam mops can be a better option than traditional mops because the steam can lift stubborn dirt from floors without using chemicals, and it also kills bacteria and dust mites. However, steam mops have drawbacks: they are more expensive, require an electrical outlet, and are not suitable for all flooring types, such as laminate or hardwood, which can be damaged by the steam.
Regular mopping can also sanitize floors effectively when done with the right cleaning products and techniques, though it may require more effort. The main advantage of a traditional mop is its versatility, as it can be used on any type of flooring. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your floor type, budget, and cleaning preferences.
Resurfacing a garage floor takes about eight hours on average, with another couple hours over three days to do the epoxy. Epoxy goes on in three coats, with each coat taking 24 hours to dry and cure. You’ll need to keep foot and vehicle traffic off of your garage floor for around 4 days in total when replacing your garage floor, so be sure to plan ahead before you start. This is a great time to organize your garage since you’ll need to move everything out to apply the epoxy.
Dry rot or severe water damage may warrant a replacement, but you don’t always need to replace damaged subflooring. If your subfloor has warped because it was installed incorrectly, you can sometimes shim the panels (in other words, add a thin, wedge-shaped piece of wood to level the surface). If your subfloor bows upward, you may be able to sand it down at the joist so it’s level, depending on the extent of the damage.
