"I can’t recommend 12 Kilo highly enough! They replaced my old shower bath with a beautiful new walk-in shower, and the entire process was seamless from start to finish. He made my dream shower even better than imagined! What really stood out was their professionalism and flexibility. They worked around my schedule without any issues, arrived on time every day, and completed the project faster than I expected (my husband was surprised every day by how much was completed already). The work area was kept tidy and they treated my home with respect. This is the 2nd job I have hired them for, the first was to replace a water softener that had leaked. If you’re looking for a reliable, skilled, and tidy plumber who goes above and beyond, 12 Kilo is the one to call."

At PG Plumbing we have a simple yet powerful reason for starting our plumbing company: to bring a breath of fresh air to the plumbing industry in Fort Wayne and Allen County.\n\nWith the rise of large corporate plumbing conglomerates, we noticed the disappearance of the small, locally-owned plumbing businesses that once thrived in our community. This inspired us to step in and make a difference.\n\nOur mission is clear: we are here to provide our customers with cost-effective, personal experiences rather than prioritizing profit margins. We understand the frustration that often comes with plumbing issues, and our goal is to alleviate that stress with a service you can trust.\n\nWe invite you to choose PG Plumbing a local, employee-owned, reliable, and trustworthy team, for all your plumbing needs. "Chance was great. He installed our 3-stage water filtration system (US Water sediment, carbon, and Pulsar UV) with an existing softener, a new water heater, and fixed two shower leaks (one drain, one valve). In all of these, he efficiently evaluated each system and made the necessary updates. This was working with a plumbing system originally installed in the 1980s. Fair pricing, and very professional. We highly recommend him."

"Everything went great! Luckily when i called him, he wasn't too far from me. He told me when he finished the job he was on, he would be right over, even though he had other jobs scheduled for the day. I recall him saying "you have sewage backing up into your house, I can't have you like that!" He called his other appointment and told them he was going to be late and came and fixed my emergency on his way to the next job. AND he didn't charge any more for it being an emergency call out! Unlike another company we had out in the past, he stayed until we made sure we ran enough water to know that it wasn't going to come back into the house. And he charged less than a company we had come out on home warranty, and was more professional and cleaned up after himself. All in all a GREAT experience, and he will be the first call I make in the future if the need arises!"

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

A lower-end water softener would cost around $900, not including installation. Each home has different requirements, water hardness, and number of inhabitants, so there’s a huge range in pricing—$600 to over $6,000. The average water softener repair bill is around $500, meaning it’s a much better option to repair any issues and only replace your softener if absolutely necessary.

There are many possibilities for why your shower’s water pressure is low. It might be a simple-to-fix issue like the water valves being partially turned off, a dirty showerhead or hose, leaks in the plumbing, or an old showerhead. However, low water pressure in the shower could also indicate a larger issue with your home’s plumbing system.

Hard water stains can be a headache because they will reoccur as long as hard water flows through. Thankfully, hard water stains are not permanent. With the right tools and an appropriate cleaning routine, you can prevent hard water stains from ever building up. However, you might feel like you are stuck in a constant cleaning cycle. In that case, you may consider hiring a contractor to perform routine cleaning.

A water softener is a worthwhile investment if you live in an area with hard water. While hard water is safe to drink, it contains minerals like calcium and magnesium that can cause significant problems over time. These minerals build up inside pipes, reducing water flow and eventually corroding the plumbing system, which can lead to leaks and a shortened lifespan. Hard water also damages fixtures and appliances, potentially resulting in costly repairs. Additionally, it makes soaps and detergents less effective, meaning you'll use more product to get things clean. By installing a water softener, you can prevent these issues. The initial investment is often recouped through long-term savings, including lower energy bills, reduced appliance and plumbing maintenance, and spending less on soap and cleaning supplies. Other benefits include cleaner linens, dishes, and clothing, as well as softer water that is gentler on your skin and hair. In some areas, a water softener can also increase your home's value, making it a valuable long-term investment.

Hard water isn’t necessarily bad for you. In some ways, it’s good for you. If you’re deficient in magnesium or calcium, hard water can give you a mineral boost that you wouldn’t get with soft water. However, this is where the benefits of hard water pretty much stop. Hard water can cause many minor inconveniences and lead to costly, premature replacements of your water-using appliances.
