My name is Jordan Wallpe and I own and operate Wholesome Homes Co., a home inspection business based out of Greensburg, IN. I’ve started Wholesome Homes to provide honest and insightful information to my clients with a focus towards healthy living environments. I serve all of Southeast Indiana and offer services related to home inspections and indoor air quality investigations.

"Jordan was very responsive when I was looking for a Home Inspector for a property that I was purchasing. He explained the process thoroughly. I was purchasing an older home built in the late 1800's. When I arrived to do the walkthrough he was very detailed in letting me know his findings and answering our questions concerning the property. I would recommend him to anyone. The timeline that he promises you to be onsite and the report to be completed is right on the money."

"Wylie did a great job inspecting my new condo before purchase. He took the time to explain everything that was in his report and the risk associated with it. He reported on things I would never have noticed like a double keyed deadbolt which poses a great safety risk. As someone new to the area he gave me a lot of helpful advice on recommended services and basic home care. I would recommend Wylie to any home buyer."

"Jad at Access Home Inspections completed a recent home inspection for me. I found his work to be exceptional. 1) The report was delivered to me within hours of the completed inspection 2) The report was thorough and categorized by level of severity - major issues, safety issues, and generally things to keep an eye on. 3) He identified several items that required follow up with expert contractors and he was right. One of my contractors said "that's the best home inspection report I have ever seen." 4) Not only did the report have pictures of the problem, but (importantly for the layman), had diagrams of the way a certain problem should look when up to code. 5) He answered my follow-up questions in a timely fashion. Home inspectors are not supermen - they are generalists of a sort that can tell you which professionals should look at your house - but Jad comes close. When all was said and done - Jad identified problems that, upon further consultation with various contractors, would have cost me an additional $57,000 in repairs. Some I expected, others I did not - like the electricity that had new wiring tied into old knob and tube wiring; not only a frightening safety hazard, but could have left me with an uninsurable property. Home inspections are not the place to save money. Don't skimp. Get the best!"

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

While the air inside your home should have some moisture—the ideal humidity level is between 30% and 50%—too much moisture can lead to issues. Some ways to tell if there’s too much moisture in your home include condensation inside your windows, mildew growth in the bathroom or mold on surfaces, peeling paint, or an uptick in allergy symptoms.

Most lenders and homeowner’s insurance companies don’t mandate a structural engineer’s inspection, so in most cases, it’s not required. However, it’s a good idea to have one done anyway to ensure you know what you’re buying. You can use the report to carry out repairs after closing or even to negotiate the sale price before closing.

It’s worth getting a wind mitigation inspection if you’re trying to save on your homeowners insurance. Plus, passing an inspection proves that your home is in good condition if a tropical storm, hurricane, or windstorm comes your way. Even if you don’t pass, getting a wind mitigation inspection is still helpful because it will let you know which areas to improve to make your home safer.

You can start inspecting your roof from the ground by looking for unevenness in the roof lines and slopes. Keep an eye out for broken, damaged, or missing shingles, and look for visible gaps where the roofing material meets exterior walls or roof penetrations, like your chimney. If you’re comfortable getting up on your roof and using the necessary safety equipment, you can get a closer look at these areas to identify signs of damage. If you notice any potential issues, it’s best to call in a professional to confirm your findings.

Some of the biggest red flags to look out for after a home inspection include signs of water or moisture damage, missing or damaged shingles, structural problems like bowing roof joists, cracks in the foundation, and signs of pest damage.
