"Originally quoted 3-4 days, which became 7 days, which turned into 14 days. Only 1 rain day. Overall probably more involved than originally anticipated. Good thing Mike Osbourn Lawncare has a 1-year warranty! Crews did NOT appear to have been briefed well by the previous-day's crew. I provided a detailed outline of job parameters with photos. Referred to outline, day-after-day with each day a different set of employees. The first-day crew destroyed our front yard. Mr. Osbourn replaced most - but not all - of the ruts with a fescue. Which of course did not match our Zoysia. No response from Mr. Osbourn when I inquired about the difference, except that he had provided "free grass and straw." (They regraded my front yard without permission.) The company destroyed our asphalt drive although we were told some of the edging would be chipped and cracked. Not a big issue since we were contracted for a totally new drive. I was told that part 2, the free-standing accent wall, would take too many cuts and they would not replace as specified. Discussing with Mr. Osbourn, the wall (the 2nd part) was removed with a reduction to the total, His crews worked hard and diligently. A few employees spoke English well enough to converse with. I was not sure exactly when a crew would show up - they began 3-days early without notice, and worked on other projects without notice. Emailed the office since Mr. Osbourn's voice mail was always full. During the day Mr. Osbourn was available via text. When I inquired about an issue, I was told I "nit-picked" more than any customer. When I pointed out a big deviation from original specifications (error), I was told I "complained" more than any one else. (Several times I did point out that their new wall did NOT conform to our "old" walls footprint or height. I did strenuously point out they had built the walkway step in the wrong place, which they did reconfigure.) Overall, I suspect these three projects were more complex than originally anticipated. They did NOT adhere to specifications and made changes without checking with me - I believe they may not have even been aware that changes were being made."

"Tyler and his crew did an amazing job. They were some of the friendliest people. We had alot of severe weather around the area and he always kept us updated as to when the best time to get the job done was. I recommended their service to my family, who also had work done. I give these guys an A++. We are super satisfied, and our property looks amazing!! Thank you TAP Construction!!!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Professionals in Salem determine project boundaries by first reviewing Washington County property records and surveys to establish legal lines and identify any utility easements. They conduct a technical assessment, including soil testing to account for local clay conditions and a drainage analysis to manage water flow. These steps ensure the final paved area is functional, compliant, and built to last in the Salem environment.

Helpful?

Over time, your main driveway in Salem, IN, will likely need the most attention due to constant traffic and exposure to freeze-thaw cycles. The driveway apron, where it meets the street, endures stress from turning vehicles. Low-lying areas prone to water collection from Salem's heavy rainfall and shaded spots under trees that retain moisture are also highly susceptible to damage.

Helpful?

In Salem, IN, certain habits can damage your asphalt. Using excessive rock salt during winter and failing to seal cracks caused by freeze-thaw cycles will weaken the surface. Allowing automotive fluid leaks to sit breaks down the asphalt binder. Also, skipping sealcoating every two to three years leaves the pavement vulnerable to Salem's significant temperature variations and humid climate, accelerating deterioration.

Helpful?

For asphalt paving in Indiana, it's best to use an Indiana DOT-approved mix with a PG 64-22 or PG 70-22 binder to handle the state's temperature extremes. A base of crushed limestone from Southern Indiana quarries provides excellent drainage. Given the region's clay soils, installing a geotextile fabric is essential to prevent the base from becoming contaminated and ensure long-term stability.

Helpful?

For a smooth asphalt paving project in Salem, IN, schedule work between May and September when temperatures are consistently above 50°F. Plan for at least two to three dry days. Before any digging, call Indiana 811 to mark underground utilities. Proper site preparation is key, including addressing Salem's clay-heavy soils and planning for drainage to handle the area's significant annual rainfall.
