"I’m obsessed with the new driveway! Our old driveway was run down and just needed to be replaced. It compliments our home very well and makes it look as if it wasn’t built over 100 years ago."

"I've read reviews from other people, and it's interesting how people can have different experiences. I had a 26X65 concrete slab put in, and culvert put in along with some grading done. Kevin came when he said he would and did what he said he would do. I guess my experience overall was one that hit a lot of different angles. The work done was great, but there were some misunderstandings that was of no fault of Kevin's, but I made them his. One of which was no fault of mine, either, but the company led me down the wrong path painting the picture that what Kevin was supposed to do didn't. As I was out of town, I called him up and voiced my displeasure. He responded very professionally and explained the situation to make me understand that he did do what was asked of him. A couple other times, a text went awry and something else that I have since forgotten. But each time he handled himself professionally and had no attitude despite being falsely accused. I'm sorry to hear of other people's situation, but I can only speak for myself and what I experienced. The other thing that impressed me was Kevin was willing to haul his equipment, and did, from a few hours away to regrade an area that this company said they couldn't get across, which was the companies miscommunication. The other thing is response time. There was one time it took a while for him to respond, but living in a rural area, and given that if you're in the middle of a job, I can't expect someone to always be available. One time we even lost connection due to how things are. Just something to keep in mind if you live in an area with ONE bar : /"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The humid subtropical climate in Floyds Knobs creates a distinct paving season from May to October when temperatures are ideal. Winter's freeze-thaw cycles, with lows around 25-30°F, cause asphalt to expand and contract, leading to cracks. The area's 45 inches of annual rainfall and winter salt use also accelerate deterioration, making proper timing and material selection for asphalt paving projects critical.

Helpful?

For issues in Floyds Knobs, extensive alligator cracking covering over 25% of the surface or deep ruts signal the need for full asphalt paving work. However, isolated small potholes or single cracks less than a quarter-inch wide can often be handled with a simple repair. Watch for standing water, which indicates base issues specific to the area's drainage challenges.

Helpful?

In IN, a seasonal routine is key. In spring, inspect for freeze-thaw damage and seal new cracks. During summer, check for heat-related softening and apply a sealcoat if needed. In fall, clear debris from drainage areas and complete repairs before winter arrives. This proactive approach helps your asphalt paving withstand Indiana's distinct seasonal weather challenges and prolongs its lifespan.

Helpful?

An asphalt paving project in Floyds Knobs can alter your property's grading, potentially redirecting water toward your foundation or affecting sump pump performance. The new pavement height may create an uneven transition to your garage floor or sidewalks. It is also important to locate underground utilities, sprinkler lines, and septic drain fields before work begins to prevent accidental damage.

Helpful?

In Floyds Knobs, success depends on managing local conditions. A thick base is essential to withstand freeze-thaw cycles, while proper drainage is critical for the area's clay-heavy soils and 45 inches of annual rain. Quality compaction to prevent water infiltration and a regular sealcoating schedule every 2-3 years will significantly extend the life of your asphalt paving work.
