"We learned of Hoosier Permanent Coatings through their advertising.  We liked the idea of not having to paint again for as long as we own the home and the warranty is transferrable.
The  paint/stain colors of our house were custom modified several years ago.  Believing they would not have a similar color in the color palette to chose from, they indicated they could custom color from leftover paint and stain.  On the day of the painting I immediately noticed the siding paint was not the correct color.  Fortunately, I was home and stopped the work.  Management arrived and concurred the paint wasn't correct.  It took approximately 3 weeks to adjust the color because the paint is manufactured in the eastern part of the country.  Upon the second attempt, again, I immediately noticed the color still wasn't correct, however, it was improved.  Because colder temperatures were fast approaching, I decided to approve the color.   In retrospect, I should have looked at their standard colors first before deciding to go custom.
The company uses painting subcontractors and it's doubtful all of them are legal citizens, albeit, we didn't inquire in advance.
Overall, we are quite satisfied with the paint and the application.  The painters could have been a little neater with the clean-up, I had to do a lot of the clean-up myself (caulking debris, masking tape, etc.).  The painting job itself, however, is very good.  An added benefit which Hoosier Coatings didn't mention, we believe the paint has an R factor.  This past winter our home maintained a 4 degree higher temperature without adjusting the thermostat. Their competitor advertises the R factor so that is how I discovered the reason.  All winter we kept wondering why our house was warmer.
We have received numerous compliments on how nice our house looks!

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Always wait until the morning dew has dried before you stain your deck. The stain needs a fully dry surface to sink into.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

Here's the deal with leaving used rags covered in oil-based stain lying around in a pile: Depending on the conditions, these rags can take just an hour or up to a few days to combust. The source of ignition is caused by trapped heat that can be compounded if the rags are near a heat source.
