"I hired this company yesterday to do a garage epoxy floor. They finished it today. Quick response, fast turnaround, and the price was fair. I'd highly recommend this company."

Small jobs welcome

"D&M flooring is fast, punctual, and has good use of professional tools. My comment is designed to inspire, and open up a new way of thinking when it comes to dealing with the public. All flooring is not sold at Home Depot, or Lowe's, therefore for customers using salvage yards or close-out scraps communication is key. These types of purchases cannot be refunded, I suggest D&M flooring include a consultation "charge" for measuring and guiding customers to resources for smaller medium sized jobs, including hauling and staging product on site."So called extra-trips" or excess errands and phone calls should be handled as part of a service and not as the customer having to disturb staff on odd hours with questions. D&M flooring performed a beautiful job on a facelifted Vintage RV making it warm , clean, and updated with comfortable resilient carpet. Sincere thanks to the Home Advisor for pre-screening people to work with."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

If you also need to know how to fill the gap between the floor and the baseboard, it's best to use a flexible, paintable latex caulk. Clean the area thoroughly to remove dust and debris. Then, apply a smooth bead of caulk along the gap using a caulking gun, and use a caulk-smoothing tool to press and smooth it into place. If the gap is large, you may need to insert backer rod, such as a foam filler, before caulking. Once dry, paint the caulk to match the baseboard for a clean, seamless look.

Carpet tiles are less expensive than traditional carpet. The average cost of carpet installation is $1,800, or $3 to $11 per square foot. In comparison, carpet tiles cost $2.50 to $11 apiece and can often be bought in bulk cartons. Since you can more easily DIY carpet tiles, you may be able to save on installation costs, too.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.

Yes, you can technically make a crawl space liveable, but the only way to do so is by converting it into a basement. While some crawl spaces are big enough to walk through and store large items, they lack appropriate insulation and space to be liveable.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.
