"Chris and Beau did and excellent job completing the removal of old insulation in our attic space and installing new insulation. The work was done well and in a timely manner. We immediately notice the difference in a stable temperature on our second floor. I was however most impressed with the approach to communication they took with the estimate and the overall job. Chris clearly explained the process and did not try to upsell additional work we did not need. They showed up on time and did what they committed to doing. Just like they mention on the website, you can tell they take the same came they would with their own home. We have already scheduled them to do additional work at our house!"

"Basically wanted above garage insulation quoted. And to inspect other attics above living area. Never quoted above garage. So waste of time. Quoted over $1000.00 for other insulation. Just didn't want to do business as they sounded like they just went to Angie's list to stir up business. Not happy that my request for quote wasn't done satisfactory. They were not going to use fiberglass insulation, they were going to put cellulose on top of existing."

"We contacted Angie’s List for recommendations for Blow-in Insulation to refresh older insulation in our attic. Three companies we recommended to us. Two phoned the next day. I never heard from the third. I told both I was gathering information and would call to schedule an estimate. I called and scheduled two companies, including USA Insulation, to come make an estimate. One company called one minute before scheduled and wanted to re-schedule. Chris from USA was on time. We were pleased with his offer and accepted. He scheduled the installation for the next day. William and his helper arrived, set everything up, and went to work. I checked regularly and photographed the attic. When they were through, they thoroughly cleaned the area. We were quite pleased. Shortly after completion, Michael, a company inspector, arrived to check the work. I would give the company an A+."

"Good guy who goes above and beyond the contract. We hired him to add additional insulation in our attic. Not only did he do that, he also sealed the cracks and holes where bats where entering our house, and disposed of the guano from the bats at no additional cost! When he finished, the insulation, he recommended spraying the perimeter of the house for stink bugs, box elder bugs, and ants. We haven't seen any of them since he did that. His prices are very reasonable, and his knowledge is unbelievable for a man his age. Definitely would recommend him to anyone."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) siding can last from 20 to 60 years, with some properly maintained systems lasting even longer. The exact lifespan depends heavily on several factors, most notably the quality of the initial installation and the consistency of maintenance.

Factors that can shorten the life of EIFS include:

  • Improper or poor-quality installation

  • Moisture intrusion

  • Damage from high winds, storms, or hail

  • Damaged flashing and sealant

  • Lack of regular maintenance and unfixed damage

To maximize the lifespan of your EIFS, it is crucial to hire an experienced and qualified professional for the installation. Additionally, regular maintenance—such as cleaning, repairing small cracks or blisters, and having the system professionally inspected—will help identify and resolve issues quickly, preventing long-term damage.

Cellular shades, also known as honeycomb shades, are the most energy-efficient and insulating window treatments. Their honeycomb structure is made of soft fabric that forms layered cell pockets. These pockets trap air, creating a thermal barrier that reduces heat loss in the winter and blocks heat gain in the summer. For even greater insulation, consider double- or triple-cell varieties. Side-tracked cellular shades, which seal the edges of the window frame, can further minimize air leaks and maximize energy efficiency.

Single-pane windows might let in the cold, but if you’re not ready for a long-term solution or window replacement, there are quick fixes to keep your space warmer. Start by sealing gaps with weatherstripping or caulking around the frame to block drafts. For an extra barrier, apply window insulation film to the glass, trapping an air pocket between the film and the window. Thick curtains or thermal drapes can also help keep the chill at bay. And if you’re in a pinch and looking to get creative, bubble wrap can provide a surprisingly effective layer of insulation—just spritz the window with water and press it on, bubble side in.

In addition to adding insulation to your attic, you may want to add a radiant barrier. A radiant barrier works by using reflective material, such as foil, on the attic floor. As heat penetrates the roof and enters the attic, the radiant barrier reflects the heat upward and back through the roof. If you receive a lot of direct sunlight on the roof, using both a radiant barrier and insulation in your attic can provide significant benefits.

You don’t need to staple insulation, as your drywall and studs will hold it into place. But if you already have a staple gun and staples lying around, it can help keep the product in place and avoid any shifting. But, most experts agree it’s an unnecessary step.

If you’re adding a vapor barrier, you will need to staple that in place.
