"Corey and crew arrived promptly and went right to work. Falling the trees was tricky because of fence, lawn plants and ornaments, but they accomplished it with no damage. All the trees, branches, twigs and leaves were cleaned up beautifully. Corey also gave me a discount on the second tree, which was not included in the original estimate. I am very satisfied and intend to make them my "tree guys" in the future."

I am an aspiring entrepreneur in landscaping and have been cutting grass since 2008. This summer season of 2026 I’ve decided to go into business locally hoping to build my profile and a reputation the competition won’t be able to compare to because of detail. I have experience installing paver edging, trimming hedges, mulch bed clean ups, and buried gutter downspouts. WillDoIt service aims for curb appeal but assures better than before with attention to detail and prioritized customer care.

"I was facing a deadline around the sale of my home and I never hear from the company I originally hired. After loosing about 10 days, and finally having to enlist the help of Angie's List customer service representatives, I was really just looking for someone who could complete the work quickly and accommodate my shrinking deadline. To their credit C&A's Chimney Sweep & Lawn Maintenance Services reached out to me quickly . . . prioritized my needs . . . and got the job done with time to spare. They were accommodating and easy to work with. There were some cheaper companies, and I did have to pay an additional surcharge because we had a masonry (brick/stone) fireplace, but sometimes a bargain isn't really a bargain if it leads to lost time and added stress. We found C&A's Chimney Sweep & Lawn Maintenance Services to be proactive, communicative, eager for our business and committed to doing a good job."

"I had them quote trimming a large dead limb on my Japanese Maple and cleaning up 2 lilac trees. Their quote was reasonable and in writing. Work was completed within a week and looks great!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

No. Topping a tree refers to severely cutting down all its major branches and tree in a straight line. It was once recommended for streetside deciduous trees but has fallen out of practice. Topping leads to many problems, removing so much of the tree that many trees struggle to survive and become much more vulnerable to insects and diseases. Also, it doesn’t really help tree growth as once assumed and often leads to an ugly appearance of many sprouting stems in competition to become new main branches.

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

When a palm tree no longer produces new fronds and old fronds start turning yellow-brown, that’s a sign the tree is dying. However, transplanted palm trees can show these signs for the first several months as they re-establish themselves. It’s best to keep watering and not give up on the palm tree until a couple of seasons have passed and you’re sure it’s not coming back to life.

White vinegar does not kill ivy on trees because its acetic acid concentration is not high enough to overpower it. Vinegar is an effective herbicide for weeds and other plants, but not for the strength of most ivies, including poison ivy and English ivy. You should use an herbicide to kill ivy, such as one with glyphosate, imazapyr, or triclopyr.

Many gardeners charge an hourly rate for their services, and your total cost will depend on the amount of services and the experience of the gardener. Gardeners with basic experience charge between $20 and $30 per hour, while a more experienced gardener can charge as much as $60 to $88 per hour.

The cost of lawn mowing is about $125, which you might need on a weekly or biweekly basis. However, the cost of soil testing averages about $1,450, which should only be done every three to five years.
