"Our heating unit stopped working the first evening of continued sub-zero temps this past February. It was a Friday evening and we called two companies, one of which wasn't available, and the other which came and gave a diagnosis. The diagnosis was to replace both the inside and outside units, costing well over $12,000, and we were left to have someone call us on Monday to order parts and to (hopefully) have repaired on Tuesday. "We are on a service agreement with them. We are not the original owners of our home. We purchased the home in October of 2013. In March of that year, the previous owner installed an entirely new HVAC system, about $20,000 worth. There are 2 heat pumps and 2 furnaces. It's a hybrid system, so it will either run on electric or gas, depending on exterior temperatures. RT Moore was the installer. While we were not required to go with them on servicing, they are familiar with the system. They are the installers and it's a Carrier brand. So we are inclined to go forward with them and we are on a service agreement. We've had them since we moved here almost 3 years to the day. 



Our agreement is they do a twice a year inspection and cleaning and everything. In the fall it focuses on the heating. Then we'll have them in May. I haven't scheduled the service yet but usually within a week or so of the call, they'll be here. That one will focus on the cooling.

"Last week, we noticed our heater was not working very well. I called Purcell's, and someone came out the next day (Wednesday) to look at it. They determined the limiting switch was broken, and he fixed it on Thursday. Our house felt warmer, but it wasn't getting to the thermostat reading. I called on Friday, and the technician came out later that evening to change the settings. The temperature dropped over the weekend, and our heater struggled to reach 64. When it read 57 on Monday morning, I called in again. Matt, the owner, said that he was going to come out to take a look at it instead of a technician because he wanted to see what was going on. He arrived before he said he would, and he found the problem to be the furnace was dirty and needed to be cleaned. He cleaned out the furnace for us, and the house is now heating properly. Within 30 minutes, our thermostat was reading 62 (before it was 58), and it is still climbing. I can definitely feel the difference as there is a lot more air pressure coming out of all the vents. Matt did not charge for the technician coming out the second time or this morning when he cleaned out the vents. He said that we had already paid enough. I really appreciated that both the technician and Matt answered our questions and did not pressure us into things that we did not need. Thank you so much for making our house warm again in such cold weather!"
