"It went fine. It was expensive but from what I understand excavation is usually high. They came out on 9/21 and dug the necessary trenches and connected large PVC pipes that run down my front yard, join and then go into a gravel filled hole with a pop up above. They filled in the trenches which left some mounds of dirt in the yard. Waited until mid-October to let the ground settle and then they came back and leveled the yard, raked, spread seed and then put straw down. Very good job, professional, didn't waste time and overall work was excellent. Would use again."

Small jobs welcome

"We had the Geek Squad out 3 times to repair our dishwasher. It was worse after each visit. The 4th time I called them to try and get it done again they said that our warranty had ran out. But 5hat if we wanted to pay them they would come back out. Yeah rite! So we were blessed to be in contact with Bergen Co, LLC. It took him an hour to assess the situation and fix it. We plan to have them back out to do some more work for us."

"I have had Miller land management out to my property a couple different times to do a few different projects. From clearing out trees, to prepping and flat work under my concrete slab, to building my entire driveway, to grading around my building for proper water runoff. Would highly recommend. Personable and easy to work with. Very efficient with equipment."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Your contractor should handle dust control during the project. It's best to speak with your contractor beforehand to check if they plan to cover your furniture, protect your vents, or use fans to redirect dust. Eliminating drywall dust is a particularly large challenge during construction, so always take this into account during your planning phase.

There are many ways to cut through roots when digging, especially if your trencher doesn’t seem to be removing the roots. First, use a shovel to expose the roots. Then, use gardening shears to clear out smaller roots or a reciprocating saw to remove larger plant roots. If you plan on keeping the plant, avoid cutting any roots over 2 inches thick.

After you successfully remove your boulder, you have a few options for what to do to get rid of it. You can rent a dumpster if your yard has many boulders or if you’re planning a larger project. You can even save the boulder and reuse it elsewhere on your property to save on landscaping costs. A few ideas include using the boulder as a natural, abstract statue, breaking it into smaller pieces to line your garden bed, or offering it to a landscaping company that could reuse it for another project.

As a general rule, the protected area should be about 1½ times as wide as the canopy of the tree’s leaves. This digging measurement can vary by tree species and the age of the tree. Of course, that can be a lot of fencing for larger trees, which is why our first step is about making difficult decisions on which trees to save.

Yes, you can technically make a crawl space liveable, but the only way to do so is by converting it into a basement. While some crawl spaces are big enough to walk through and store large items, they lack appropriate insulation and space to be liveable.
