"Sunny Day was wonderful to work with from the early planning design stages through the finished project. Joe was an excellent communicator and would often reach out to us with a plan and timeline without us even needing to ask- we always new what the plan was and if we were on schedule (which they always were). He and his team kept their workspace impeccably clean every day - including daily haul away of materials/garbage from the job. Our basement is exactly as I envisioned and the quality of work was top notch. I would highly recommend Sunny Day/Joe to anyone looking for a dependable, communicative, clean and all around excellent contractor."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Blueprints are generally available for houses built after the early 1900s. Before then, detailed building schematics like blueprints were rarely used and even more rarely saved. If you have an older house and need blueprints, you can have a new set drawn up by an architect or draftsperson.

The early stages of building a house are harder than the later stages; laying the foundation and framing the house are two of the most challenging steps. However, it varies for everyone. Some people have difficulty installing HVAC, plumbing, and electricity, while others find it harder to plan the house and secure the necessary permits.

Builder-grade is one of two types of stock cabinets, whereas semi-custom designs allow homeowners some control over the color, finish, or hardware on their cabinets. Stock cabinets are sold in construction-grade and builder-grade designs. Construction-grade cabinets are usually made from inexpensive medium-density fiberboard, which is prone to moisture damage, whereas builder-grade models are a step up with higher-quality materials. Construction-grade designs are the most common type of cabinets in America.

Italianate architecture is a reinterpretation of Renaissance styles, combining elements of Italian farmhouses and villas with Victorian materials and construction. This home style emerged in the Victorian era, gaining popularity in the U.S. in the mid-to late-1800s. The style came about in response to what many then viewed as the too-rigid and stuffy Classical style designs.
