"Absolutely no problems. The installers were professional, efficient and took care of all problems. The price was reasonable and no hidden charges. I would highly recommend One Choice Mechanical and will use them in the future. When I had the old furnace and ac serviced in the past, the technician was methodical and my old furnace ran better than it ever had. After 45 years of service out of my old furnace and ac, it finally bit the dust. Hopefully, the new one will outlive me."

"Great! Arrived promptly. Assessed what needed to be done & quoted price. I felt the price was reasonable & hired Greenwell Plumbing to go ahead & repair the leak. They were finished the same day. I definitely would hire the company again & would recommend them to family & friends."

"The people they sent were nice, and prompt, partly because I was doing this in the summer when I knew it'd be slower, but I kept feeling like they were trying to pull a fast on on me, and charge me for services I didn't need.  The previous owners had a fireplace insert, and used it to heat their house, so there was a lot of wear on the chimney.  We got rid of the insert, and they removed the old liner, which had damaged some of the ceramic heat tiles in the chimney.  Then they used used rotary tools to clean most of the creosote, which all went well enough.  My problem was that they kept trying to sell me on either:
a) rebuilding the flue and installing a new fireplace liner- $3,600
b) putting in a NEW fireplace insert and liner - $4,400
c) rebuilding the flue and doing a poured fireplace liner with refractive concrete  - $5,200
My problem was that I kept telling the repairman that I didn't need any of these - I will likely use the fireplace 3-4 times per year, with gas logs around christmas, etc.  I ended up speaking to a contractor I know, and he told me that the guy was just fishing for more business.  He said there was no reason, with a gas fire, and as little as I was planning to use it, that I needed to do anything other than repair the flue.  I put a board in to block the flue for now, and put in a set of fireplace doors from Lowes and, and I'll have someone repair the flue in the next few weeks.

"Did leave me a list of things the chimney needed, around $1000 worth. When I called another company to do the cap, I did not mention what was needed, and that installer said everything was fine. I don't know if Fireplace Doctor was extra vigilant or if they were looking for work. Overall, what I had them do was done timely and at the agreed price.

"Brent Ladegast worked in our home as part of the team of another contractor.  He did all of the demo, framing, electrical, window installation, trim carpentry, siding work, etc.  I have never seen anyone work so hard and so efficiently as Brent.  He is skilled and knowledgeable in all of his trades and does everything quite well.  He manages his team of helpers, his time and his plan of action with such efficiency that we are amazed just watching it all take place!  This man is one of the hardest workers I have ever seen.  He knows his business as well and does an excellent job with framing, gorgeous trim work, window installation, and electrical.
Thank you, Brent Ladegast for a job well done and for our beautiful bathroom.

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Some high-quality steam boilers come with 10-year warranties, but a well-installed, properly maintained model can last at least 20 to 25 years. Learning how to clean a boiler, getting an annual professional service, and keeping up with maintenance and repairs on your heating system are all important for getting the most out of your model.

No, boilers and water heaters are not interchangeable because they serve different primary functions. Boilers are used for central heating systems, providing hot water or steam to heat your home. In contrast, a water heater's purpose is to supply hot water for daily household use, such as for faucets and showers. A water heater alone cannot supply the warm water or steam needed for a central heating system.

While they are not interchangeable, it is common to have both a boiler and a water heater. In fact, a conventional boiler often works best when a water heater system is already in place. The two systems can be combined to provide both heating and hot water, either by pairing a boiler with an indirect water heater or by installing a premade combination boiler-water heater unit. For home heating, some homeowners may also opt for a furnace instead of a boiler.

All modern boilers are condensing boilers because they’re the most efficient type. Instead of extra heat leaving through the flue, these boilers trap the heat and use it to heat the house. Whether you choose a combi boiler, system boiler, or regular boiler, you can opt to get a condensing system. If you have an old boiler that’s not a condensing boiler, it’s a good idea to get an upgrade.

Generally, an oil furnace is considered safer than a gas furnace for several reasons. While both types of furnaces can produce carbon monoxide, a leak in an oil furnace is easier to detect due to the smell. Oil furnaces also don't connect to a gas pipeline, which reduces the chance of a fuel leak. Most importantly, heating oil is not combustible, whereas natural gas is highly flammable. This means there is a much lower risk of combustion or explosion with an oil furnace. However, an oil furnace can still pose a fire hazard if it tips over.

The cost of heating oil fluctuates rapidly based on supply and demand, but the average price is between $4.00 and $4.50 per gallon, which means filling a standard 275-gallon tank would cost between $1,100 and $1,240. Much like automotive gasoline, the price of home heating oil changes constantly, so the only way to get an accurate and current price per gallon is to contact a heating oil delivery company. Some companies also offer contracts with a set price that should be an average cost over the contract term.
