"Amazing work! Franklin Landscaping called me within 24 hours, gave a below-anticipated quote, and began work the same day. They returned the very next day to complete the project. Every recommendation the company made was economical and only improved upon our original plans. In addition, we added other requests at the end of the second day and those were immediately accommodated. This was not a small job. Franklin Landscaping created and mulched flowerbeds, trimmed a tree, planted new landscaping, create tree groves from a tree line, and graded/ seeded/ covered bare areas of the lawn. Best of all, the owner and staff are friendly and extremely easy to work with. We looked forward to seeing them. I will use both Home Advisor and Franklin Landscaping in the future."

"After interviewing several companies, I knew Isaac Branham was who I was going to hire. He did a walk around with me and I could tell he knew his plants, how to take care of them and he emphasized his employees were also knowledgeable of landscape maintenance. Some of the other people I interviewed seemed to mainly mow lawns, but were not as knowledgeable at plant maintenance. Isaac's crew has been to my home to perform the maintenance and their work was excellent. They even fluffed my mulch, which made it look like it had just been laid. I strongly recommend considering Branham Yard Outfitters for your landscape maintenance needs."

"The people who came out were friendly and did a pretty good job.  I signed up for a special $99 yard clean-up deal.  They were a little slow about setting up the appointment, I think they had recently lost a receptionist.  Although I told them before they came that one of the things I wanted them to do was to clear the poison ivy out of my mulch bed, once they got there they said that they couldn't do that because they hadn't brought their protective gear, and that they didn't usually do that as part of the $99 deal.  Someone said that she would get back to me about rescheduling the poison ivy work but she didn't.  I called them a couple of weeks later and spoke to David (I think) who said that he would check his schedule when he got back to the office and let me know when they could come back out to do the poison ivy removal, but he never contacted me.

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Yes, rubber mulch allows water to seep through and reach the soil underneath. Rubber mulch is not as absorbent as organic mulch, which allows the soil underneath to stay moist and hydrated. Keep in mind that the permeability of rubber mulch can get clogged by landscape fabric and other additional materials.

This will depend on the depth of the structure. For a landscape, patio, or walkway that’s around 2 inches deep, a ton of gravel will cover around 100 square feet or about 0.6 cubic yards. However, if you’re building a driveway, which should be a minimum of 12 inches deep, you’d need about 6 tons of gravel to cover the same area.

Generally, it is not necessary to remove old mulch before applying a new layer. As organic mulch breaks down, it enriches the soil with nutrients. However, you should remove the old layer if it shows signs of fungus or disease, which can be common in moist areas, or if the total depth is already too thick. Avoid letting the total mulch depth exceed 3 inches, as this can harm plant roots. If you do remove old, disease-free mulch, it can be added to a compost pile.

You should use mulch because it protects garden soil in a few key ways. This extra layer between the ground and the elements protects against erosion, helps your soil maintain moisture, regulates changes in temperature, adds nutrients as it decomposes, and keeps weeds at bay.

Pea gravel is a type of gravel that is generally smaller and rounder than regular gravel. It's usually made from river rock and is available in a wide range of colors. Thanks to its soft, round shape, pea gravel is more comfortable to walk on compared to standard gravel, which can have sharp edges. A drawback of pea gravel is that it can scatter more easily than other gravel types.
