"1--technician determined the problem and provided an estimate to repair. We decided against repair since new machine would be in same price range. Service charge very reasonable. 2--technician determined problem (frozen coils) and suggested way we could likely fix it ourselves. No place to store food, so we had him make the repair (unfreeze coils with hair dryer). Labor cost was a little more than I expected, but not outrageous, and tech did a good job. H also replaced gasket around freezer door. Required a separate trip but there was no additional service charge."

"Highly recommend Jordon! Very professional, outgoing personality, trustworthy, and honest! He built a gazebo for us that said it needed 3/4 people to build. Kept us updated throughout the process as we was working while we was and would even reach out if he fount a dent, scratch, etc to see if we would like it to get replaced before it assembled."

"Fixed the fridge problem in 2 visits. JR showed up when he said...was very prompt, but called me when he was going to be ten minutes last. I like that service. Had to order a part, but saved our 10 year old GE from being tossed out...what I was told to do by another repair company. Fixed for $300 instead of a $2000-$3000 new one. Good job JR! Would certainly call on you again for the next appliance problem. Jim Welch President, uDecor, Inc. / ProCeilingTiles / Wishihadthat"

Kenmore Vacuum Repair questions, answered by experts

Technically, yes, you could install a central vacuum system on your own, but it is a very difficult DIY. There is a significant amount of planning, cutting into walls, and electrical wiring work that goes into it, which should only be performed by a professional. Because of the difficulty and expense associated with a central vacuum system, it’s worth it to hire a professional company familiar with the installation's complexities.

The disadvantages associated with central vacuums start with cost. They are expensive to install, especially in existing homes, as retrofitting requires opening walls. The system's bulky hoses can also be inconvenient to maneuver and store compared to portable vacuums. Additionally, repairs may need professional service, adding to maintenance costs. Lastly, while powerful, they may be overkill for smaller homes or apartments, making the investment less practical for some households.

A central vacuum system can be a worthwhile investment depending on your needs and budget. While the upfront cost is higher than a traditional vacuum cleaner, it offers significant long-term benefits. These systems can save you time and make cleaning your home easier, as you only need to carry the hose and vacuum head, eliminating the need to lug a heavy unit up and down stairs. They also tend to operate more quietly and can improve indoor air quality. The convenience and performance over many years may make it a valuable addition to your home if you can budget for the initial installation.

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

Whether talking about a whole-house central vacuum or a portable vacuum cleaner, the expected cost of major repair work should always be balanced against its replacement cost. However, excluding high-cost motor replacements or major electrical trouble, repairs on a central vacuum system are typically far less than the cost of purchasing and installing a new one.
