"Haul for One provided EXCEPTIONAL services. They actually showed up early (called first to make sure it was OK), then they worked their tails off loading up and hauling off a trailer full of construction debris, even a lot of very heavy concrete blocks, all while maintaining a very friendly, pleasant attitude. Not one complaint from them even though it was a hot, itchy, bug filled couple of hours. Their price for the work was very reasonable; significantly less than other companies. Plus they arranged their schedule to be there the very next morning (a Saturday morning) after I called so I could stay on schedule. I would highly recommend this company."

"Personable, responsive and very professional. They arrived when they said they would and had everything removed in about 10 minutes. I couldn’t be happier with their service. Pricing was also very reasonable. I’ll definitely use them again if I need to have large items removed. I wholeheartedly recommend them!"

"I hired Hoosier Junk Solutions and they did a great job. We needed our back yard cleaned up. They took down an old wooden swingset, and old wooden picnic table /with a pile of wood on top plus a big pile of junk. Hauled all that off. We also need an old falling down shed emptied and taken down but they are gonna have to reschedule & return to do that job. In order to do that safely they are gonna return with equipment to tear it down. It was too fragile to tear down manually."

Hauling questions, answered by experts

When considering how to dispose of other appliances, a landfill is also usually not an option. The biggest difference is that electrical appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, or dishwashers aren’t as easy to transport as a portable microwave. Some local councils offer bulky uplift services (although a fee may apply), scrap metal recyclers might pick yours up, trade-in options on big items are more common, and some utility companies offer incentivized recycling programs.

Costs depend on debris volume, labor, transport fees, and any additional disposal services needed.

When you move to a new area, check your new city's Department of Sanitation or local municipal website for more information. The site will clarify who picks up garbage in your area, how to arrange service, and your designated pickup day. You will also find instructions for purchasing the proper bins and bags for collection.

It’s not difficult to dispose of wood pellet ash, but you should always let it cool completely before disposal to avoid it sparking a fire. If you’ve got an energy-efficient pellet stove, there shouldn’t be much to empty from the ash box, anyway. However, once the ash has cooled, you might consider composting it or simply adding it to your garden or plant soil. The ash is full of minerals, not chemicals, so it’s a wonderful fertilizer for grass and plants.

You have several options for disposing of excess sand. Any extra sand from your project can be used as part of your topsoil mixture to level out an uneven lawn. You can also donate it, give it to a green waste facility, or ask neighbors if they need sand. Another option is to try reselling it on a marketplace or simply returning unused bags to the original store.
