Kayak Pools Midwest

My parents purchased a Kayak pool almost 20 years ago and we still use their pool to this day. This year we decided that since the COVID issue has been tough on our family we wanted to add a pool for our 3 kids. We knew that the quality was there as my parents pool was still in great shape after all these years so we called Kayak. Even though we became frustrated with the delays we have encountered due to weather, shipping, and other COVID related issues, Kayak has went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and satisfied with our purchase. So many companies are experiencing delays from shipping, manufacturing, and product shortages that they can’t help but one thing they can do is provide good customer service. We appreciate the service that we have received from Kayak. Not many companies offer that these days. Although we a still anxiously awaiting our pool we know that Kayak will make us satisfied

Our installation went very well. Our pool was up and running in one day. We love it and it’s so easy to take care of. The dual drain allows us to be free from vacuuming often. The water is so clear and beautiful. It’s perfect for backyard fun for adults and children!

Like so many homeowners who have been in locked down due to COVID, we decided to purchase a pool. After doing some research we decided to go with a Kayak Pool because they are top end pools that are built to last. In the initial consultation we were told the normal process usually takes 30-45 days but that was an estimate. Under normal circumstances, there are still weather delays that can impact the process. However, what many people fail to realize is that these are NOT normal times. COVID has wreaked havoc on almost every business line. With the whole country on locked down, home improvement projects and pool sales have sky rocketed and when you add labor restrictions, factory shutdowns and reduced staff in manufacturing and installation it further increases the struggle for companies to provide the same standard you would expect in normal circumstances. Heck I couldn’t buy quality toilet paper for weeks. I tried to buy an upright freezer and it was back ordered 9 months! Why would anyone expect a quality pool company to be immune to having the same challenges?? No one expected COVID to have this kind of impact and it’s hard to fault them for something that is outside of their control. From our original consultation and even now, Kayak Pools has always been responsive to any question or concerns that I have had. Every week an update is given even when progress is slow, they make sure to stay in contact and keep me up to date. I have also had to reach out to them regarding an unexpected change in our situation and they were attentive to our need and was very helpful in working with me to get it resolved. Unfortunately the weather along with this pandemic has caused backlogs and delays that are not isolated to Kayak alone, however, seeing how Kayak has helped me thus far in addressing my concerns, I am confident that they will continue to delivery quality service throughout the lifetime of our pool

I have been going to their shop for a few years. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They have a nice shop and it is very clean. It is a new office space and a professionally run business. The pricing is competitive.

The service was excellent. I was happy with the entire process from the sales to the installation. The staff was very professional and great at cleaning up after themselves. The subcontractors were all great. One general contractor named Chris over saw all of the different groups. They estimated the project be done in 2 weeks, but there were weather issues so it took about 3 weeks. Chris did what he could to make sure I was swimming by July 4th. The staff was great at explaining what chemicals to use and how to maintain the pool. It is very easy to contact them and schedule a service. I can call in or email. I have mainly dealt with Kim and Toni in the office. I would highly recommend this company to any looking for an in ground pool

This “company” told me they could come out, compact and flatten the sand under my pool, and that it would be warrantied! They basically came out, got the check and left me with half the parts missing to my pool, and the ground no better than before they started! I have contacted them MULTIPLE times, everytime Sean and a woman promising a return phone call to get me my refund, and then suddenly my number as well as my husband’s are both suddenly blocked. They owe me $990. We tried to cancel the check but they left my home and ran straight to a bank before I realized what had even happened. Absolutely do not recommend these guys. We tried to give them SO many chances to just do the right thing before resorting to this.. and now, we have a lawyer involved so we can get our money back. Terrible business! Avoid at absolutely all costs!

It went slow... they went from June-Sept. They got the wrong pool in first which slowed things down. Then it took them forever to install the correct one. They were taking care of the Bloomington customers before us and coming up whenever they could. The real problem I have is that they give you allowances in the contract which are lowballed. I ended up owing every subcontractor money. The electricians just called me and wanted $1700 additional above the allowance or they will put a lien on my house. The electrician subcontracted with AquaPro so they did not know about the 800 dollar allowance and they were not allowed to discuss the bill with me since they were not contracted with me. AquaPro have not yet paid the subcontractors (8 weeks later) and they have still not be paid the first 800 dollars

We chose this company to build our pool because we thought they were friendly when we visited their store. We thought the price of the pool we wanted was reasonable and it included installation and warranty. When they came out to install the pool, we specified that we wanted it no closer than 5 feet from our house. They installed it 41/2 feet, completely ignoring our request. It messed up our patio/deck plans completely. They didn't pack down the sand underneath the liner of the pool so there are deep footprints from the installers and ridges on the bottom of the pool (making it difficult to vacuum). When they were finished installing, the uprights were not plumb. They were about 1/2 " to 3/4" out of plumb around the pool. So the pool is not level. It is almost 2 inches higher on one side than it is the other. The seam that was suppose to be covered by one of the uprights was not covered. Funny because the manufacturing label glued on the pool right next to the seam stated that the seam needed to be centered and covered by the upright! The filter motor is suppose to be installed 10 feet from the pool "to reduce the risk of electrical shock" (states on the nameplate of the motor, visible to anybody), but it was installed 3 feet from the pool and we weren't aware of this safety hazard until we read it on the motor, unfortunately a day or so later. Come to find out, the pool company didn't know either when we brought it to their attention! Shocker! We paid all $3300 for this pool except $103, holding back that small amount to ensure that our issues would be addressed. First they said they would not do anything until fall. Then they said they would come out and drain the pool (all but 5") in a couple of days but that we would have to pay to have it refilled again, which is alot of cost for something that wasn't our fault. Oh yeah, and we had to drive an hour to Bloomington to get our ladder because they brought us a box that contained a piece of a ladder (that goes on the outside of the pool) but no bolts, no platform, no inside ladder steps! No way to get in or out of this pool. We could have waited a week for them to bring the whole ladder, I will admit. Geeezzz. They were to busy to accomodate...in the meantime we had a pool we couldn't use! We were treated like a pain in the butt to them and they certainly showed how much disdain they had for us because we dared to bring these issues to their attention, they have now sent us two "pink" letters threatening legal action against us if we didn't pay $103 immediately! Two threatening letters within less than 3 weeks of having this pool installed!!! A job incomplete as far as we're concerned. If that's your idea of good, caring, and professional service, I say hire them! If it's not, skip these people and find somebody else to install your pool! By the way, we will be paying the $103 tomorrow plus $10.30 interest to add insult to injury

"The selling process was super easy and the customer service was great in the beginning. Then comes the waiting part, knowing the issues this country is facing we expected a long delay. Just past the 90 mark we had a family issue and needed to cancel the pool. Thankfully the customer service was understanding and is issuing a full refund. We didn't want to cancel, but family is first and Kayak completely understood and supported our decision.

"I just wanted a quote for a new pool liner and to fix the cover and heater. They wouldn't even come to the house, they just kept emailing responses asking more questions. Overall, it took over a week of going back and forth to get a quote. They gave me a minimum quote for the liner and would have added on a bunch of other items. They said they would consult out for the heater and cover to other companies. It was way too much work and I felt very uneasy about the quote so I went with another company.
