"Chad and his team did an excellent job removing four pine trees from my back yard, grinding the stumps and trimming two large maple trees on my property. They were very fast and effective in their work. It took them about an hour to do the job. They also cleaned up the yard well after the job was done. I would highly recommend this company for any tree service needed."

"I highly recommend Growing Solutions Tree care They came out quickly to assess our job and give us an estimate. It was very fair for removing two big trees and four large bushes. They communicated very well and were prompt. The crew was friendly and professional. After the project, they cleaned everything up in our yard and any wood that may have dropped in the street. The job site was spotless! We were very happy and highly recommend them."

"They were. very efficient in their work and the work in short order. Cleaned up all the branches and fallen leaves. Took items down that were in their way and placed them on my patio. When they were finished with the job they put item back that they had moved out of their way. Every thing I asked for was done. A couple of planks were broken from a falling tree branch. They returned after going to purchase then and placed then on the fence and took all the broken one away. I highly recomend David Canter with Canter Stump Solutions LLC"

"Used this service through the summer for basic mowing on my yard.  I'll start with the good first.  They definitely made sure that my lawn was mowed once a week.  Now on to the rest.  Asked multiple times to have the crew raise the mower blades so that they weren't cutting my grass so short & to stop edging to the ground around the house & other obstacles.  The mowing issue was that they were cutting the grass so short that it was dying & turning brown.  The trimming was even more destructive.  Basically, they trimmed all the way to the ground so every object they trimmed around now has a ring of dirt instead of grass,  I called & spoke to the owner about this & he said he would speak to the crew to remedy the situation.  Next week, same crew, same results.  Contacted owner again.  Was told that he would address it with the crew again.  Next week, same crew, same results.
Definitely do not recommend for any lawn service from this company as they have made a wreck of my yard.

"The company was very responsive to phone calls and email, but not very proactive. I had been told to expect a two-week wait before the trees could be removed, which was fine with me, but then I was the first to call to find out whether we were on the schedule. (Perhaps I just beat them to the punch.) They came out on the morning they were expected; however, I had the day off and had to call to find out whether they'd be here in morning or afternoon. (I did get a prompt return call with a time to expect them, and they showed up at the appointed time.) They performed the work quickly and efficiently, for the price quoted. They did have to come back to grind the stumps because the utilities had not yet been marked. I appreciated the fact that they didn't delay the tree removal but went ahead and did the part of the job they were able to do. We were surprised, however, when they just showed up to take care of the stumps without an advance phone call. Also, they left a rounded pile of wood chips--I expected that the holes would be filled in but did not expect to see a pile of chips above ground. A relative who got quotes on tree removal said that all of her quotes included filing in the stump holes with dirt (not chips) and re-seeding, but that never came up in any of the estimates I received (from three companies), including Bill's. These are minor issues. I would have been interested in a dirt infill and re-seeding but didn't know to ask about it. Overall, we were pleased with the company's quote, the way they cleared the trees out, and their responsiveness to our communications. I would call them again.

"Anthony's cleaned up a couple of maple trees from storm damage, took down two pine trees and trimmed a couple of other trees as well. They did an excellent job of cleaning up . The guys he sent out were a friendly and courteous crew. I almost gave him a 4.5 in customer service because initially it was not clear when they would actually be able to do the work. But, when I asked and let him know my schedule, he jumped right on it. We are very pleased with his work and would highly recommend him."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Most plum trees are pruned into a vase or open wine glass shape. They’ll have a shorter central leader (the trunk) that supports three to four main branches. Of course, this isn't always the case. If you have a European plum tree, you can grow it in a pyramid shape. Let the central leader extend the length of the tree and prune smaller branches to create the pyramid.

A chainsaw is the best tool to cut down a tree, but you may also use a handsaw or ax. You may also want to use a lopper or pole saw to remove limbs before cutting down the tree. Wear chainsaw chaps and protective gear, including eyewear and earplugs if you use a chainsaw. Again, if you’re unsure about how to use this tool, this project may be one to skip.

Peach trees grow to be about 25 feet, so keep this in mind for pruning as well. If you plan to DIY, you’ll need to be comfortable working on a ladder. Without pruning, peach tree branches can sprawl nearly as wide as the tree grows tall, so make sure to plan pruning sessions at least once per year in the spring for controlled growth. And if you’re working on a ladder, be sure to follow all safety precautions, especially if you’ll be dealing with falling branches.

Some trees, such as silver maples, birches, sycamores, and scotch pines, shed their bark naturally. If your tree is not one that does this, it might have fallen prey to pests, fungi, or diseases. It could also simply be suffering from an extreme weather change, such as a snowstorm or heat wave. If you’re still stumped, consulting with a pro can help you diagnose your tree’s specific problem.

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.
