"We called to renew our snow removal contract that we have had for a few years. We were told they only do snow removal for clients who have lawn care services as well. This has not been the case previously but I understand things change; however, the concern I had was how absolutely rude and hateful the female employee was who passed this news. We will not be returning to them for any future needs."

Planting grass from seed requires time to grow before it can handle even light foot traffic. Most varieties require a minimum of three months before you can walk on them regularly. You can expect to wait at least one year before your lawn can hold up to heavy use. Because sod is already established, it can be walked on more quickly than grass planted from seed.

Carpetgrass is a low-maintenance grass requiring little fertilization that thrives in subprime growing conditions. The decision of whether or not to let moss grow in your yard depends on your preference. Moss is a lower-maintenance alternative to grass that looks green and lush but doesn’t require irrigation, fertilization, or mowing. Unlike grass, moss doesn’t attract pests, so it can keep your yard free from bugs as well. However, moss won’t stand up to heavy foot traffic as well as turfgrass.

Leaving dead patches can invite weeds and other problems, so if you want a totally green lawn, getting rid of dead patches should include removing the dead sections before reseeding the area.

The best time to top dress your lawn depends on what type of grass you have and what climate you live in. Cool-season grass should be top dressed in late fall, while warm-season grass should be top dressed in late spring.
