We paid Matt in full for the job, and he left someone else to complete the work, When we brought the blemishes and items that were not to standard to our expectations, especially with the hanging and texturing of the sheetrock work he has ghosted us. He should at least refund what we had to pay to correct the issue if he was not going to complete the job the the standards that he sold us on! We have pictures of all the bad work!"

"Matt Hicks at Paintco visited me and set me up with a "Painter for 8-hours plus $100 supplies" for $450. They worked with me and honored my list of black-out dates. They agreed to do the prep and paint priming on day 1 and the final paint coats on the next day. This turned out just right for the above fence work after I added the vent job to utilize the full 8 hours. The painter (Barry) put in a full, hard working 8 hours as promised. He put on a full coat of primer on day 1 and two finish coats on day 2. But, what really impressed me is that he did his work with a high degree of thoroughness and quality! For example, he decided to latex caulk all of the board overlap seams to keep out moisture and further increase the fence lifetime. Before that, he sanded the entire fence very thoroughly. The painter was very professional and responsive. The fence looks fantastic, and is very well protected from the elements! I certainly recommend Paintco as a trusted home improvement supplier."

They repeatedly no-call-no-showed, and often just appeared in my yard without warning. My family felt unsafe when the owner, Tom, said he visited my property unscheduled & unannounced while we were inside unaware. When I later met Tom, I was shouted at and talked down to. He kicked & broke my garden light with no apology. His workers were similar; his painter angrily demanded I get on the roof myself when I politely asked him to fix a mistake. The siding they first put on was warped due to poor install and had to be redone. The cheap stuff they replaced it with doesn't match my house. It's lower grade (18-S/W) than even my shed's siding, and they only gave it 1 spotty coat of paint. Also, 2 roofing companies investigating a water leak both stated it was due to flashing damage by JD Hostetter. I've had no response from them about this."

Exterior painting services FAQs
You should paint your home exterior every five to 10 years, on average. Climate and surroundings can affect how well paint holds up. Wood siding will likely need a fresh coat of paint every three to seven years. Paint on brick tends to last about eight to 17 years, on average.
Calculate the square footage of the area you want to paint. Divide the square footage by 350 (the average square footage a gallon of paint covers). Multiply the number of gallons you need by two, as you’ll likely be applying two coats of paint. For a more accurate estimate, subtract the square footage of the windows and doors from the initial square footage total. It’s a good idea to plan for an extra gallon of paint to make sure you have enough to finish the job.
To calculate the square footage of a home exterior, painters multiply the length of the wall by the height of the wall to be painted. Then they add the total square footage for all of the walls to be painted. To calculate the price, they multiply the total square footage by their cost per square foot to prep and paint. Additional costs may factor in such as repairs, additional trim, and walls higher than the first story.
The cost to paint the exterior of a house ranges from $1,900 to $4,500 or about $1.50 to $4 per square foot, depending on the size, height, and complexity of the home layout. Other cost factors include your location, the type of siding (e.g., wood, aluminum, brick, stucco, etc.), and the kind of paint (e.g. oil-based, latex, acrylic, etc.). Painting the trim a different color or painting intricately designed trim can also increase the cost.
You should apply at least two coats of paint when painting the exterior of your house. Two coats of paint provides better durability and more even coverage than just one coat.
