After I cleared the table for them, the three men struggled valiantly for about ten minutes to tear open the plastic packaging that the rug and pad were secured in. I hope they used the money I paid them to buy a pair of scissors.

The owner beautifully summarized the problem is an e-mail written to me on May 17, 2014, in which his exact words (and caps) were: "After forty years of operating a service business, the customer is NOT always right." You can easily imagine how a company with this kind of management treats its customers. I became a new customer in April, 2014 after the owner visited my home and promised to fix a problem with our pool. I beleive that he made such promise in order to get a new customer, but then treated me like dirt after I signed on. After promising to work on the problem immediately, the company informed me that it would take more than 2 months to start any work. After I sent several e-mails complaining about their lack of attention, the owner concluded the above e-mail by saying: "Please find another pool service going forward. We resign." I was thus left up the proverbial creek, as it is not easy to get another service provider to take over pool service at this time of the year. My pool is now green as I have not been able to find anyone else to clean it yet. Finally, as a final insult, the company overcharged by about 15% vs. the price that was offered when I signed up. Thus, as the owner so succintly stated in his e-mail to me, this is a company that thinks that its customers are wrong, and it acts exactly how you would expect from someone with that attitude. A company that cared about its customers would have made an effort to rectify the situation. These guys took the easy way out and just resigned when presented with an unsatisfied customer, and now my pool looks like Kermit has been swimming in it. Thanks, Rick. Anyone considering becoming a new customer of this company should only hire them if you like abuse. Indiana Pools & Spas installed our hot tub with a significant scratch on the side panel. After agreement to replace with a new panel, the same panel was instead reinstalled with poor workmanship in attempt to correct the scratch. When asked to correct it with a new panel as previously agreed, we then had to wait a long time for the new panel replacement.
Indiana Pools & Spas agreed to install our in-ground swimming pool within 3 weeks barring rain (weather). The executed project took more than 3 months in spite of very little rain. We were promised grass replacement for the areas around the pool which did not happen despite repeated requests, eventually requiring us to pay another $4,000 for sod at our own expense. Many instances of poor workmanship on the pool posed concerns which we expressed along the way (in real time to allow correction and/or explanation). The firm?s owner failed to respond to our many concerns and our repeated attempts to communicate. He ultimately told my husband while on our own property that we ?complain too much?. Because we could not get any answers to our questions or responses to our concerns, we sent photos in real time to the owner?s attention (via email because there was no on-site supervision and the owner did not visit the work site or inspect the work along the way), to which he ultimately responded that we had ?intentionally enlarged the photos to make the defects appear worse than they really are?. The owner eventually breached the contract by billing us for items outside the written contractual agreement, refused to provide items stated in writing as deliverables within the signed agreement and billed us prior to project completion. The terms of the contract were milestone payments (which we paid timely) up to ?completion? for the final payment. We had not received the final items to complete the project nor had we received a bill for the final payment when we suddenly received a bill for overdue ?interest? charges in the amount of $1,066.06. This bill for the overdue final payment referenced an invoice dated July 22, 2013 which was an impossible statement considering the building permit was not obtained until (dated by the city) August 1, 2013. We had not seen the owner since before the contract was signed, and did not see him again until 3 months later in a meeting held as a result of our repeated requests to meet with him in order to show him the defects in person. During this meeting he threatened to place a lien against our property, at a time when the project was not complete and the contract had not been fulfilled.
We ultimately paid an amount which exceeded the amount stated in the contract. We were left with damages such as the need for grass/sod (90% of our back yard), a replacement pool liner (for the liner installed by Indiana Pools & Spas with large wrinkles, twisted areas and misfit seam lines) and replacement sections of side wall coping (for the coping installed by Indiana Pools & Spas which contains sharp edges (safety hazard) due to the installation process).
We would not recommend this business to anyone due to the interactions we had with the owner. We are willing to share photos of the process we endured, which were carefully chronicled, to anyone wishing to see them for honest purposes.

She asked questions and listened to my daughter's ideas and her likes and dislikes. She showed us some flowers from her refrigerated storage area as well as pictures in books. The groom would be wearing his Marine dress blues, so my daughter wanted a bouquet that would go with her creamy white gown and pull in a touch of the groom's patriotic colors. She decided on a bouquet that would cascade a little, with lots of white flowers and a few accents of deep red – and a sheer dark blue ribbon.It's one thing to choose a bouquet out of a book to be duplicated and quite another to ask for a custom bouquet with a general description and then leave it up to the florist to design a bouquet that won't be seen until it is delivered shortly before the wedding. This florist's artistic flair is amazing. My daughter was thoroughly delighted with her lovely bouquet and the divine scents that wafted up. (The bees loved the scents too – it was an outdoor wedding!)We also ordered a pair of vases, each with a long-stemmed red rose with baby's breath and a blue ribbon that matched the bouquet's ribbon. One vase would go next to the wedding cake and the other at the bride & groom's table. Simple and lovely.The florist was patient and generous with her time, willing to work within a modest budget, and willing to deliver on a Sunday. The flowers were were waiting for us when we arrived at the wedding site. We haven't needed General Repair since last summer. We have been using them since 2005, and have been very satisfied. I marked the "punctuality" only a B because they do NOT always come when they say they will - but they do call and keep in touch, and reschedule. Our first project with them was replacement of the post for our large rural mailbox (or maybe it was both the post AND mailbox???). That work was done by a young man, whom I did not see much, since he was working outdoors. Since then we've had a very pleasant somewhat older guy, who has been able to "think outside the box" and do things I either would not have thought of, or not thought possible. Since General Repair IS good, and pleasant to work with, they are BUSY. Sometimes when I've left a message on their VoiceMail, the recording has said that they are only able to do work for "old customers" - but fortunately WE are old customers. The guy has done rather minor things (like hanging a heavy picture we had received as a gift) and fairly complex electrical stuff, and sometimes it's been surprising what he WAS able to do. When the "chandelier" over our dinette table started to go bad, he suggested I buy a new one, and he would put it up. I looked and looked (both online and locally) and did not like anything I saw as well as the old one we already had. He estimated his labor charge for taking down the old one, rewiring it, and putting it back up - and it was less than the prices for the new fixtures that I MIGHT have been willing to live with, but which were not as nice as the old stained glass one. So, we did it that way, and it's been over seven years now, and the light works beautifully - and looks beautiful and fits with the original decor of the house.

I left out all the numerous dates and times I tried to get this guy to come clean and deliver what he promised. I just want to forewarn one and all. ... Instead of delivering what was promised in writing, Quintana utterly failed to deliver ? despite numerous attempts to get him to deliver ? and countless opportunities to do so. I have been patient beyond any reasonable expectation over the course of 2 years! He offered every conceivable manner of reasons why: he had a house fire (not in his shop), his wife left him, on and on and on. There was always some \"reasonable\" (and highly convincing) \"reason.\" Sure these things may?ve happened BUT in 2 years he could not find the means to make it go right ? when he had zero out-of-pocket expense as my down payment more than paid for all the materials? DAMAGE OF MY PROPERTY: Tom Quintana damaged my property in the process of ?delivering? the only one of nine of these so-called ?products,? a unit of cubbies. When we initially discussed the job, Quintana stated that he would remove the windowsills ? but finish them off nicely with wood as part of completing the cubbies installation. He did not do this. Instead, he ripped out seven wood windowsills ? and left them that way, as rough, torn-out wood. (will try to submit photos.) FLAT FILES: These are a standard, commercial item available for an art studio. I had planned on buying them commercially. Tom Quintana, upon seeing the plans I provided for the requested quote, offered to also handle these for the same price as I could get commercially at the time, thereby saving me time (in assembling the commercial units myself), claiming he could competently deliver six 10-drawer flat file units. That sounded good, in theory... Oct 2008: Contacted Quintana, insisting that the flat files be delivered. Explained that the counter space that the flat files created was sorely needed for four paintings that had been commissioned. Quintana?s solution that became a problem: Quintana delivered an incomplete product: Six Flat file units with NO DRAWERS ? and a false assurance that this would be installed within a reasonable time thereafter. (All six units were also never connected for a ?stable work surface? per contract.) No drawers/completed flat files were ever delivered. In fact, after a multitude of insistence on my part and having to threaten him with legal, Quintana finally did come out on June 25th, 2010, taking OUT one of the six empty units ? claiming he needed to ?re-work my drawer and layout plan? ? demonstrating his lack of proper carpentry planning and incompetence ? promising to return. He never returned. TAKING SOMEONE'S MONEY AND NOT DELIVERING WHAT WAS PROMISED IS JUST LIKE STEALING: Since then, Quintana never answered any emails, voicemails, mail ? despite attempts to communicate by all three methods. He left me no choice: Due to Tom Quintana?s non-delivery and failure to fulfill contract, I now had the distasteful task of having to take him to Small Claims Court for breaking of contract, non-delivery of goods, faulty work and damage to my property. He didn?t even show up and when I presented complete evidence, the judge ruled in my favor. Now HE owes ME $6000. Oh yeah, he never returned my house key, either. If you run across Tom Quintana, \"Quintana Handbuilt Woodworks\" or \"Handbuilt Woodworks\": RUN in the opposite direction!! I am telling you this because I never want anyone else to be taken in by this guy. He took $6,000 of my money and delivered nothing but false promises, lame excuses, problems, frustration, added time galore and turbulence in return. And he did this to a really nice person who offered him the understanding and patience of Job. Just imagine what it is like to day-in and day-out to walk into an incomplete sunroom studio ? while you are also out $6000 for the \"privilege\" of such a view ? a \"privilege\" that certainly is NOT one. THAT is Tom Quintana's \"product\" that I have stared at day after day. (Update: Now my husband needs a $6000 medical procedure that our insurance doesn't cover. Sure would be a help if Quintana would have at least been honest enough to refund my money. I could use it to help my husband. Lesson: When someone rips off someone, there are consequences. People do suffer in one way or another from such harm.)"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/in/ellettsville/handbuilt-woodworks-reviews-300274.htm"},"position":10}]}

FAQs for pool table assembly projects in Brownstown, IN
The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.
Tipping a handyman is not a requirement or necessarily expected, as they should build a fair wage into the price of the job. However, some people will tip a handyman around $10 to $20 per hour or the equivalent of a day’s pay, depending on the size of the job. But it’s up to your discretion. There are no set rules for tipping a handyman service, but if they did a great job and you’re so inclined to tip, it’s encouraged and will likely be received with thanks.
Do you have any before and after photos of your work?
How long have you been doing this kind of work?
Do you clean up and dispose of waste when the job is finished?
Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local handymen guidelines.
