"Angel Oak's service was quick and professional. They cleaned up fallen branches as they went, and cleaned up leftover branches when they were done. My only complaint was that they did not call ahead as they had agreed to do. I asked for a day's notice so that I could coordinate with our neighbors whose drive Angel Oak needed access to. Luckily our one neighbor was home and able to move vehicles out of their drive. Otherwise, I would absolutely hire Angel Oak again and would recommend their service to others."

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting. 

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.

Dead trees are dangerous for several reasons. They are structurally compromised and prone to branch or trunk failure, which can pose a significant safety risk to people, vehicles, and nearby structures. Dead trees can also harbor pests like termites, which may spread to other trees or your home. If a tree died from a disease, it could spread the illness to healthy trees. Additionally, the dry wood is highly flammable, increasing fire risk.

Aside from removing dead or diseased branches, you should prune your trees somewhere between every one and three years. Some people—particularly commercial farmers—prune their apple trees yearly to produce higher yields. This is the best way to promote tree health. That said, the average homeowner can get away with hard-pruning their mature apple tree every other year or every three years. 

The felling notch you make before you make the final cut will determine which way the tree will fall. The cut will be in a wedge or triangle, and the tree will fall from the highest point of the triangle. You can use this, as well as the process described above, to estimate where a tree will fall.
