"The guys were great. Very professional and nice. They explained the service and walked me through afterwards. They cleaned up and even took some sticks I had gathered by another tree that I will hire you all to work on. Thanks for your company's quick reply and completion of service."

"It went better than I could have expected! They were quick to respond with a quote and was easy to schedule. They had the tree and the stump gone in no time! The owner, Allan, was even on site. He doesn't just send his crew out to do the job, he gets his hands dirty too. Very impressive. I would definitely recommend!"

"I called them because the other tree service who set up on the 8th didnt show and when i called them pushed me off another week. I had a water line that needed repair in the yard and i had it all set up cor the 8th. I called L&m they showed up in 15 minutes and did the job for the same price and only left small amount of wood shavings. They are the best and had the job done in 2 hours. Thank you L&M!!!!!"

"Excellent!.  Called 3 tree sevices for estimates.  Allen's Tree Service was for $5700. The next was for $2700.  K-V Tree was for $1500 and took out the extra huge stump for free.  Morale : Angie's list is not sufficient.  They use it to overcharge people.  Always get at least 3 bids.

"They did a wonderful job! They took down 2 very large trees in our front yard and ground the stump. The price was great and the service was even better. They came out to give us an estimate quickly, got the job done when they said it was going to be done and the whole experience was very pleasant! Would 100% recommend. Great job!"

"Tree was overhanging awning and power, cable and telephone lines. Jake and his crew were able to cut back large limbs without damaging awning or power, cable or telephone lines, They removed all wood and leaves and cleaned up completely. They used a large wood chipper and a bucket truck and were able to maneuver through all the obstacles to remove the tree"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You can use herbicides to prevent roots from growing without killing the tree itself, however they must be used with caution. Systemic herbicides are absorbed by the root and can kill off problematic roots. However, herbicides can sometimes negatively impact nearby plants, so the solution is best used sparingly.

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

Cutting down a tree next to power lines is never a DIY job, and it’s a good idea to contact your utility company first. In most cases, the utility company will need to take care of any tree problems within 10 to 15 feet of power lines. If you want to remove the tree for aesthetic reasons, hire a pro to do the job. Trying to cut trees near power lines yourself can create many safety hazards, and you could be liable if you inadvertently cause damage to electrical equipment.

Late winter is ideal, but if you’re pruning apple trees in the spring, prune them as early as possible in the season. You want to ensure your tree is just creeping out of dormancy and hasn’t started pushing out new growth. If you prune your tree too late into spring, you generally won’t see results until the following year.

That said, there’s no pruning season for unhealthy growth. Remove dead, dying, or diseased branches as soon as you notice them, regardless of the time of year.

Not all leaning trees are dangerous, but they can be a hazard as gravity may eventually cause them to fall. A key factor is whether the lean is new or has been present for a long time. Trees that have grown with a lean for years are not typically an immediate danger, but a sudden lean is a cause for concern as it often indicates weakening roots. If a tree is leaning more than 15% from vertical, you should consider having it straightened or transplanted. To be safe, it's always best to hire a professional arborist to inspect any leaning tree to assess the risk and avoid potential accidents.
