"We bought a diamond-in-the-rough 58-year-old ranch house with a dirt crawlspace in Lake Zurich in need of many major repairs, but by far the most important was the crawlspace: a source of water, mold, dirt, odor, and humidity that made the house in its present condition uninhabitable. After doing many hours of research on all the major types of crawlspace renovation and waterproofing services available, all signs (including Angie's List) pointed to a Bensenville outfit known as A Better Crawlspace, Inc. In a sentence, going with them was probably the single most important RIGHT decision we made with our house. A Better Crawlspace ("ABC") has earned an impeccable service record and rave reviews by customers as well as media coverage due to the extraordinary work ethic and commitment to perfection of its proprietor, Greg Mitchell. Simply put, Greg is someone who goes out of his way to give you the very best possible product that he thinks you need, and nothing more. While others would gladly have taken my money for things I didn't really need, Greg went out of his way to explain such things in detail, and how I could cut corners in cost without sacrificing quality. This meant a lot to me regarding a level of trust in who I was dealing with. In our case, we wanted an elephant gun to kill a gnat, so that no future problems could ever develop, so it was fine. I asked for the strongest, industrial-strength level sump pump and battery backup they had, and they put them in. I asked for the strongest Fosters biocidal agent and they put it in. A crew of six showed up at 7:00 a.m. to start the project and by 2 p.m. the trucks were gone! No one lounged around or wasted their time in the least, and their protocols for keeping dirt and mud contained to the crawlspace area were rigidly followed. At first it seemed like the work could not be done that day because there were major plumbing leaks but they located the source, turned off the water, cleaned up, and were able to pour. In a little more than half a day ABC turned our leaky, muddy, moldy, musty-smelling crawlspace into a beautiful, smooth concrete pond you could skate on. It was remarkable. Not only can it now function as a storage space, but the difference for resale is substantial. The Saturday following Christmas and the huge snow we awoke to a watery crawlspace. I left an urgent message on the ABC phone system and, incredibly, Greg came out free of charge THAT NIGHT to survey the problem, which was not due to any of their work. "Brian and his crew returned to my building on a warranty followup- their previous work done wonders for my flooding problems, but my foundation walls are apparently made of swiss cheese and there was one small seepage problem remaining which only shows up during a "100 year rain event".  Brian indicated that they go for 100%, not 99% and scheduled time to come back out to my building to address the issue under the warranty (a.k.a. free of charge) from the original work.  They came back out, dug up the foundation again, and found a crack hidden behind an old hasty concrete patching job that had been tarred over, which was determined to be causing the remaining seepage.  They repaired the crack and were done with the whole task in only hours.  I am a repeat customer, and can't say enough good things about Crawlspace and Basement Waterproofing solutions, they are friendly, helpful, and most of all, stand behind their work!
