"John and 41 North is great to work with and very client-service oriented. His prices are fair, the estimates are detailed, his team's work is of high quality and he is very communicative. He did some remodeling work for us on our siding, deck and windows and we were very happy with the results. He also upgraded our electrical. We then re-engaged the next year to do our hardscape patio and back landscaping. When rain delayed our progress, he rushed the job to get it done in time for a party we were having. "We started working with IDEA back in the fall of 2010 for designs for a remodel/addition to our 1950's Cape Cod.  The designs were done by one of the original partners of the firm and we could not have been more pleased.  He really took into account our desire to maintain the overall feel of the house and the charm as well as creative ways to re-purpose existing space.
Construction on the house started in April of 2011 and was originally supposed to take 6 months.  We ended up being out of our house for 7 months but most of the delays were due to weather issues at the very beginning of the project.  Also, mid-way through the project, Peter (the architect who did our drawings) left the company to move out of the country.  Marty and Angela did scramble at first trying to pick up the pieces in Peter's absence but eventually, things sorted themselves out and we honestly have nothing but good things to say about them!  They were incredibly responsive to our requests and concerns, Angela provided excellent guidance with design, color, style etc. on decisions that we easily could have been overwhelmed with.  She has a wonderful taste level!  Any time we had issues with how construction was progressing, Marty quickly responded, met with us and made sure things were fixed to our satisfaction.  He is also one of the genuinely nicest people we have ever met!  
It's been several months now since the project has been completed and we could not be more pleased.  Any kind of construction/remodeling on your house is stressful but in retrospect, Marty and Angela were great to work with and we would definitely recommend them, and IDEA to anyone considering a remodel or addition.  They were great!"

"This is my second project with Fil and Thor Build. The idea to construct a mezzanine was something that I had envisioned when I first saw my condo. I showed Fil my ideas on paper along with photos of how I wanted everything to look. Fil ran with it and brought it to fruition. Everything turned out even better than how I had envisioned. During the project, I requested some modifications which Fil gladly accommodated; he even created a custom door for me that is absolutely stunning - the quality work of artisans! To top it all off, this project was completed while I was 600 miles away. I had to rely strictly on photos and good communication. I had tons of questions during the construction phase and I'm sure I must've drove Fil crazy at times. However he was always professional and answered all of my questions and addressed any concerns that I had. "Had taken over management of owner occupied 3 flat apartment building. Recently leased apartment to new tenant. Found that work done on master bathroom by someone hired by owner less than two years ago was faulty. A leak in bath room in apartment above had been discovered and fixed, but who ever owner hired to do repair on water damage to this bathroom apparently never replaced wet wall board, just painted and tiled over!
Also about time I was getting quotes for repairing this bathroom, I replaced the old drop-in stove top in the apartment with a new one. However the old unit had knobs in front, while new one had controls on top. This left a open cutout in front of cabinet.
Tom had been out of town when I first started getting quotes, and I had almost decided on an other provider. However, he offered to meet me at the building at my convenience (I am only there once or twice a week) to see what was needed and give me a quote on the spot.
He showed up on time. When I showed him the main 'job' - the master bath- I gave him minimum information. His answers as to what probably happened and what would be needed, depending on extent of hidden damage was spot on. I also liked his suggestions as to how he would fix the problems.  As we went through the apartment I ask the tenant to show us anything else she felt needed to be 'fixed/adjusted'.  Tom gave good answers to the few items she pointed out., and, while honest, did not put me into any bind or make apartment owner seem bad.
After we left the tenant, Tom explained to me what he would do, and how long he expected to take. I also went into more detail about 'prior' fix with him at that time, though it appeared he easily was able to see what had happened. Tom gave me expected time to do all the fixes, and price. I was impressed that he just about promised all could be done in one day without disrupting tenant to any major degree.  Also, he would be able start within a reasonable time frame, which was important to me.
Tom came out and did the work with in  the next week. While I was not able to be there at the time, I reviewed the work he did several days later. He did a very good job. Also, important to me, the tenant was also pleased and complemented his professionalism. He did quality work, timely, and at a very reasonable price.
I am going to use Tom for future jobs as needed at the building. Not only I will recommend him to others, but here are some projects in the near future I am planning at my own home about which I will be contacting him.

He helped us with the design and picking materials and stain to match the look of the rest of our house. He also fixed a support post that was rotting to make our home safe.
